Uncle Ben ELLARS, a familiar character of Terre Haute, was found dead in the loft of his barn at his home a mile northeast of Terra Haute, Monday evening, his death being caused from a stroke of apoplexy. He was about seventy years of age and everyone in that part of the country knew Uncle Ben. He left the house about four o'clock in the evening, and not returning at supper time the family became alarmed and search was instituted but it was not until about ten o'clock that his body was found in the loft, and he had been dead for several hours. It seems he had gone up to throw down some hay for the horses when he was stricken and had evidently died at one. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, interment being in the Terre Haute cemetery. - Leon Reporter
