Garden Grove Express

Garden Grove, Iowa
A sad accident occurred at Humeston Saturday resulting int he death of Mrs. KILLBARGER, an aged lady of over seventy years. It seems she was standing on the sidewalk near where the C. B. & Q. track crosses the same, talking to a lady. Upon the approach of the passenger train going north, and notwithstanding the engineer whistled, she attempted to cross the track ahead of the train when the cow catcher of the engine struck and carried her quite a distance when she fell at the side of the track, having sustained such serious injuries that she died the next day.
She was a very estimable lady, a member of the M. E. church and one of the most ardent workers for the same.
It seems there was no blame attached to the R. R. employees as they stopped the train as soon as they could.
