JOHN BURGESS, the Tuskeego blacksmith, died very suddenly Monday night, after a stroke of paralysis. He had suffered from two former attacks during the late winter and early spring. While in the act of shoeing a team owned by C.T. Rhodes, MR. BURGESS fell to the ground, at 6:30 p.m., relinquishing his hold on the hammer he would never again take up. He was carried to his home and passed away at 11:30 p.m.

MR. BURGESS was a man in his fifties, and leaves a wife and a large family of children. The funeral was held at nine o'clock Wednesday morning. The remains were taken to Caledonia for burial, a goodly number of people followed to pay their last respects to the departed.
