An information was filed before Justice C.W. Beck last Friday by MRS. JENNIE CLIMER, of Burrell Township, charging FRANK SELLERS, a well known young farmer living with his parents in the same neighborhood, with having committed rape upon her daughter, EDITH CLIMER, a girl between fourteen and fifteen years of age, it being alleged the crime took place on or about the 7th day of May, near her home. Just why the information was not filed before is not known. A warrant was placed into the hands of Marshal Chandler, who went to Decatur City on Saturday and arrested SELLERS, bringing him over to Leon. SELLERS retained Hoffman & Jackson as his attorneys, and entered a plea of "not guilty" denying the charge in an emphatic manner. He is a young man of exceptional good reputation and claims it is simply a black-mailing scheme. The preliminary examination was continued until Tuesday, July l4th, the accused being released in the meantime on $5,000 bonds, which he had no trouble in giving with his father, W.H. Lloyd and W.H. Colter as sureties.
