MAXIE MCGUIRE vs. REBECCA J. RICHARDSON. The plaintiff brings suit for $l0,000 for damages to her character, and in her petition states that she is a resident of Decatur County and has always conducted herself so as to merit a good name, character and reputation. That defendant is also a resident of this county and the owner of considerable property. That the defendant falsely and maliciously accused the plaintiff of stealing a clock and sidecombs, said statement being made to Sarah Hamilton at Davis City in September, l895. That the defendant also accused the plaintiff of trying to poison her, and of assaulting her, trying to drive her away from home, and attempting to throw her down stairs, as well as calling her vile names. The plaintiff alleges that all of said charges against her are false and were made for the sole purpose of injuring her fair name and reputation. She asks for damages in the sum of $l0,000 with interest and costs. Hoffman & Baker, Attorneys for plaintiff.
