History: Also known as McLain Cemetery for it is mostly a family plot (McLain and Woods). John McLain and wife, Mary Mariah, settled Section 15 with their 12 children in 1854.

Mary McLain, infant, was the first tombstone burial in 1859. Their sons, John died in 1861 and David in 1862.

New Buda Cemetery took it's name from a Hungarian settlement to the east of the cemetery. A dirt lane runs east from the main road. After coming to end of the lane, walk 100 yards north to the cemetery. It is a pretty and well-cared for cemetery. A cedar tree marks each corner.
