Roy Hopkins was born in Decatur Co. and was raised up in the Grand River area which is known as Tennessee.

Roy married Nola Marie McDowell on November 2, 1918, and took up farming for their future life.

Roy rented the land he farmed until 1951, when he bought the farm east of Grand River and stayed there until his retirement in 1963. He then moved to Grand River, where they are still living.

Roy and Nola celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1968 and their 62nd in 1980.

Nola says the most important part of her life is her children and her grandchildren.
