Leo and Laura McConnell, former residents of Grand River.
Leo's parents were Frank and Amanda McConnell; their origin goes back to North Scotland by way of Indiana.
Leo (1881-1970) married Laura Ann Foland (1879-1963) in 1902. No children. Laura's lineage can be taced through the Michael and Chris Foland line, her parents being Christian and Lucinda Foland.
They moved many times; and he had many jobs and trades besides farming, one being caring for race horses and working at the race tracks near Grand River and in California, Chicago, and Canada. Leo is fondly remembered for his stories, practical jokes and humor.
After Laura's death Leo was notably disconsolate the rest of his days-the last of which were spent in a nursing home.
