Clifford Virgil Hewlett was born Sept. 24, 1902, southwest of Grand River. He was the son of Birdie Bronson and Albert Hewlett. He graduated from the Grand River High School in 1921.

Clifford was married to Doris Arlene Young. She was born Sept. 18, 1911, and was the daughter of Fred and Ruth Young of Grand River. Doris graduated from the Grand River High School in 1929.

He served on the school board and was a charger member of the Grand River Lions Club.

Clifford and Doris owned and operated a grand and livestock farm three miles southwest of Grand River during their married life.
