BENJAMIN RUSH MCALLASTER, Republican candidate for coroner, was born at

Mansfield, N.Y., December 2l, l867. He attended the public schools of

his native town until in l88l, when, with his parents, he moved to King

City, Mo. Four years later, in the spring of l885, he came to Decatur

County and attended school at Lamoni and Grand River and in the fall of

l890 entered the collegiate department of the State University of Iowa

City. In l894 he graduated from the medical department of the

university and located at Lamoni for practice of his profession in April

of that year. The doctor moved to Leon, September l, l896.

DOCTOR MCCALLASTER is a member of the state medical society, the

southwestern Iowa medical society and of the Decatur County medical

society. He is an Odd Fellow and at the present time is vice grand of

the local chapter. His father and grandfather both served during the

late war.

DOCTOR MCALLASTER is a competent physician, and in every way qualified

to fill the office for which he has been nominated.
