"BENJAMIN F. KOGER is one
of the active farmers and enterprising citizens of Decatur Township, where he
resides on section 6. He is a native of Missouri, born in Gentry County, the
date of his birth being December 5, 1848. In 1865 he came with his parents,
Jordan and Elizabeth Koger, to Decatur County, Iowa, who are still living in
Decatur Township. He was united in marriage March 27, 1869, to Miss Catherine
Crees, a daughter of the pioneer settler, Joseph Crees. To Mr. and Mrs. Koger
have been born six children, two sons and four daughters -- Michael, Elizabeth,
Mary, LeRoy, Grace and Mina. Mr. Koger was reared to agricultural pursuits and
has always followed farming, in which he has been very successful, and is now
the owner of a fine farm containing 111 acres of choice land, under good
cultivation. In politics Mr. Koger is identified with the Democratic party,
although in local elections he votes for the man whom he deems best fitted for
the office. Both he and his wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal church
South, and are among the most respected citizens of Decatur Township."
