In March of 2016, Central Decatur's Lady Cardinals (Leon High School) advanced to the Iowa Girls' High School State Basketball tournament which played out on the court at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
The Lady Cardinals faced off against Western Central in first round Class 2A play.

Sadly, despite a hard-won battle fought on the court, Leon's Lady Cardinals lost, 61-50. But these girls are winners in our estimation.
