John M. and Sally (Allbaugh) Chastain standing on porch, Frank & Maude (Brunner) Chastain in buggy and Paul Chastain on his pony. John M. and Sally Chastain built this house in about 1904. It is located on the northwest corner of North East Q and North East 4th. It faces south on North East 4th and is in much the same shape today as when this picture was taken in about 1909.

This picture was scanned from a tintype. It was taken at John Allbaugh's house in Eden Township. L-R is L. R. Chastain, John Martin Chastain, John Allbaugh, Mary (Layton) Allbaugh, Minnie Chastain who died at 6 years old in 1874 is sitting, so we know this picture was taken before that. The two people on the left are unknown.

This is another tintype taken the same time the Allbaugh one was. This one was taken at L. R. Chastain's house which we think is where Bob Chastain lives today. We think these are L. R. and Sarah (Walton) Chastain and their children. Sara is behind the fence holding small child and L. R. is on the other side of the gate holding another child. John Martin and his daughter Minnie are in the the buggy with John Allbaugh.

This picture is another tintype taken the same day or at least close to the same time the others were. This is Levi & Louisa (Martin) Chastain's house. We are not sure where this house was located. L-R is John Allbaugh, Willie Walton, Mary (Chastain) Walton, Unknown, Eliza Walton, witting in chair Louisa (Martin) Chastain, Levi Chastain, John M. Chastain, Minnie, Unknown, L. R. Chastain. Willie Walton is the son of Mary (Chastain) Walton and Joseph Willis Walton who died from typhoid fever after being married only five weeks. Mary (Chastain) Walton, Eliza Walton, John M. Chastain and L. R. Walton are all children of Levi and Louisa Chastain.

Here is another tintype that we cannot identify everyone in the picture. The tall gentleman who is 6th from the left is John M. Chastain, the child to his left is again Minnie Chastain, the two small children on Minnie's left are unknown. The elder gentleman is John Allbaugh. In the buggy is L. R. Chastain. It is the same team that is in the other tintypes. We have speculated that these tintypes may have been taken by a traveling photographer as it seams the same team and the same people have traveled from farmstead to farmstead. We wonder if this could have been a school with all of the young children. If anyone has any ideas please let us know.
