Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, July 30, l903 In the fore part of the year l889, a young man just out of school embarked in the grocery business in the little frame store building around the corner on Commercial Street. The proprietor was HARRY J. VOGT, and for fourteen years he has continued business at the same place. He named the store "The Little Store Around the Corner," and by strict attention to business he has built up one of the largest and most prosperous business houses in Leon. But the business has been gradually growing until the present location is not large enough and "The Little Store Around the Corner" will soon be abandoned, MR. VOGT having secured a five year lease on the corner room of the opera block now occupied by Gates & Keller, whose lease will expire Oct. 6th. The room is one of the largest in the city and will be remodeled by the owner, L.P. Van Werden, so that it will be of the finest grocery rooms in southern Iowa. HARRY J. VOGT is a progressive and popular business man and his many friends all over the country will be glad to see him secure such a fine location. He has demonstrated his ability to build up a prosperous business in a very poor location and when he is located in a fine brick building will certainly enjoy a large increase in trade.
