The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa Thursday, January 4, l900 JOHN PAINTER, who has been very sick is some better. MRS. PAINTER, who has been ill for some months, is slowly recovering. MRS. JOHN M. HAMILTON was seriously scalded but is much better. MRS. REED is visiting friends in Ringgold County. L. MARK will set his saw mill on the river near the POUSH farm. G.E. GRAHAM had an oyster supper New Year's Eve. JOHN MERRITT's folks had a party Tuesday night. Word was received here this week of the death of MRS. JANE HOWARD, of Kansas City, who died Saturday at 11:30 at the age of 76 years. She was buried at Brookfield, Mo., Saturday. MRS. HOWARD was the mother of B.Z. HOWARD who formerly lived in this city, and has been here several times, spending one winter with her son while he lived here. MR. HOWARD has the sympathy of Davis City friends, having lost his wife and mother within the past six months. MRS. E.A. HORTON was fortunate to capture a couple of singing mice in a cage trap. The mice had been heard in the wall for some time and listened to by several. They do not resemble an ordinary mouse very much, being smaller and of different color. The peculiar noise they make sounds very much like little birds though not so shrill. They are quite a curiosity and well worth seeing and hearing.
