Friends of MR. and MRS. J.L. MITCHELL, of south of Leon, surprised them in a very pleasant manner by organizing a big wood chopping bee on Wednesday of last week. Mesdames (sic) WILLIE WALTON, HOMER TOWNSLEY, JAMES ANDERSON, , WALTER EVANS, ROLLA CHASTAIN, ROY GAMMON, of the neighborhood, MRS. LANIE LANEY and MRS. C.F. HARDEN, of Davis City and MRS. HODSON, of Des Moines, brought big baskets of eats to the MITCHELL home, and others who were unable to be present also sent in eatables. WILLIE WALTON furnished the timber and also a power saw for sawing up the wood, while WILLIE and HUGH WALTON, WALTER EVANS, WM. PORTER, LEWIS GAMMON, J.L. BARNETT, JOHN FROST, BID FROST, JOHN ALLBAUGH, ROLLA CHASTAIN, WARE CHASTAIN, JAMES HAZLET, STEPHEN MARTIN, FRED DUST, EVERETT JUDD, LEE HORNEY, HOMER TOWNSLEY, HOMER WARREN, JAMES ANDERSON and JOHN OSBORN went to the timber and cut wood to beat the band. When the men went to the house for dinner they had a regular feast, 4l guests being served at dinner. The MITCHELL's have a supply of firewood which will last them for many months and MR. and MRS. MITCHELL are thankful they have so many and such good friends. And the choppers and cooks, enjoyed the day just as much as MR. and MRS. MITCHELL.
