Subject: FATHER AND DAUGHTER BOTH DEAD

Date: Sunday, June 24, 2001 11:13 AM

Feb 20, 1913 - Decatur Journal

The community of Van Wert was all broken up the past

week over the double bereavement in the family of

Henry Thompson. Last week Mrs. Thompson was called

to Des Moines by the death of her daughter, Mrs. Dollie

Baxter, who died on Wednesday, and while she was in

that city her husband, Mr. Henry Thompson, one of the

most highly respected citizens of Van Wert, passed away

at his home in Van Wert Thursday evening, his death being

due to injuries received a few weeks ago when a pile of

wood fell over on him. The body of Mrs. Baxter was brought

to Van Wert for internment, the double funeral being held

on Sunday afternoon, and father and daughter were laid to

rest in the Van Wert cemetery. Their funeral was one of the

largest ever held in Van Were. We will have obituary

notices next week.
