JAMES BOWER of Van Wert, during an aberration of the mind, attempted to
end his life last Saturday by shooting himself through the left breast.
MR. BOWER is a member of the City Council of that place and was an
industrious and highly respected citizen.  No reason is assigned for the
rash act and the attempt is supposed to have been made during a fit of
insanity. While the would is pronounced by the physician as a dangerous
one, it is not necessarily fatal.
