The death of ALONZO WORK who died at Lamoni, has been a resident of
Pleasanton for many years and was about eighty years of age, but for
two
years he has been a great sufferer, being entirely helpless for that
length of time. He died at his daughter's MRS. MARY BRADLEY,
of Lamoni,
on the 8th of October, and was brought to Pleasanton on the 9th and
interred in the cemetery south of town. His family and friends
have our
warmest sympathy.

It seems that our announcement of the temperance meeting was a mistake
last week. It was to be on Sunday night but was indefinitely
postponed
on account of the rain.
"Down went Moses to the bottom of the sea." Oh, pond, instead
of----.
MRS. MCGINTY.

DIED--October ll, l890, at 6:20 a.m. of typhoid fever, PAYTON OLIVER
HULL, aged l6 years, 7 months and 6 days, son of MR. and MRS. CHARLES
HULL, of this township. PAYTON was a bright, intelligent and
industrious boy, just budding into manhood. He was kind, social
and
winsome with all that came in contact with him. His many young
associates will often miss him and he leaves not an enemy, but all
that
knew him regret his departure. His illness lasted nearly four
weeks,
but he bore it bravely to the last. All was done for him that
careful
and loving hands could do, but to no avail. And when his life
departed
he looked as one just sinking into a quiet, sweet sleep. The
funeral
service took place at the M.E. Church, REV. J.H. HARD, of Garden Grove,
officiating. He delivered a beautiful discourse from the text,
"If a
man die shall he live again."-Job XIV-l4. After the services
the body
was borne to our beautiful cemetery and laid to rest. Six of
his young
friends were selected as pall bearers. The immense number of
friends
that were in attendance was a token of universal respect and sympathy
felt for the sorrow stricken family. MR. and MRS. HULL and family
extend their sincere thanks to the many friends who so kindly assisted
them in their late sickness and bereavement.
