Hello Jerry,

I'll look through my other Family Tree CD's to see if there's any more
information concerning Moses Smith.

A couple of years ago someone pointed me in the direction to Donald
Smith.  He has been working on the genealogy of the Smith Family for
many years.  Last I heard, he was considering writing a book.  I never
found him online, but here's his "snail mail" address........
Donald Smith
P.O. Box 42
616 Hamilton Street
Macedonia, Iowa

Children of JERRY CARMICHAEL and SHARILYN BRIGHT are:

Endnotes

1.  W.P.A. Thomb Stone Book, The 1940 book has Hiram L. Peck 1853-
11-16-1902. However the newer cemetery book of Decatur Co., Iowa does not
list him so the stonemust be gone. I guess you could say " gone and
forgotten".
2.  W.P.A. Thomb Stone Book, She is listed in the 1840 W.P.A. book butin the
newer Shields cemetery record she ios listed as a known burial with no stone.

In reply to the PECK family of Decatur Co.  Joseph PECK married Rachael
BOSLER 12 Sept 1852 in Ashland Co. Ohio.  Rachael, born ca 1828 in PA., is
the daughter of George BOSLER and Deborah BERRY.  Deborah BERRY was born ca
1800 in PA. George Bosler and family lived in Ruggles Twsp. Huron Co. Ohio.
(This twsp. became a part of Ashland Co. in 1846).  George Bosler died
between 1836-37 according to tax records for him in Ruggles.  By 1838 or so,
Deborah Berry Bosler married Peter WHITRIGHT.  Peter Whitright, a widower, is
my ancestor.  In 1856, Deborah, Peter and their 3 children migrated to
Hamilton Twsp. Decatur Co. Iowa. They settle on 80 acres that Peter Whitright
received as Bounty Land from his service in the War of 1812.  I have them
recorded in the 1856, 1860 and 1870 census.  Peter Whitright is 85 years of
age and Deborah is 70 years of age in the 1870 census.  After this census I
loose all track of this family.  I assume that Peter Whitright died soon
after the 1870 census, but what became of Deborah?  Did she go to live with
her daughter Rachael Peck? Rachael also had a sister Julietta Bosler who
married Jackson Smith 21 Aug 1853 in Ashland Co. Ohio.  The Smith family also
migrated to Hamilton Twsp. And a brother Amos born ca 1834 in Ohio.  One of
my greatest genealogical mystery's is where is Peter Whitright buried in
Decatur Co. and what happened to his wife and family.  Are you familiar with
the Whitright name?  Do you have census records for Joseph  Peck that might
show a Deborah living with them?  Thank you for any information you can share.

It pays to post!  :)
