2.  HENRY LENHART2 WALTON (GEORGE1) was born 5 Apr 1816 in Williamsport,
Lycoming Co., PA, and died 9 Aug 1894 in Decatur Co., IA.  He married (1)
ELIZABETH CLARK 9 Nov 1837 in Crawford Co., OH.  She was born 22 May 1815 in
Wayne Co., OH, and died 23 Oct 1884 in Decatur Co., IA.  He married (2) LUCY
LOVING Aft. 1884, daughter of JOHN LOVING.  She died Aft. 1884.

Death of H. L. Walton -  Decatur County Journal, 16 AUG 1894

Lenhart Walton died suddenly early Friday morning near the residence of his
son-in-law, Henry Oney, in Eden Township.  He was engaged in watering a
horse at a well about a quarter mile distant from the house when he was
seized with hemorrhage of the lungs and died almost instantly.  Mrs. William
Fletcher saw his fall, but when the neighbors reached him his soul had taken
flight across the silent river.  He had been in failing health for some time
but recently had improved so as to be about and was in town the day before
his death.  Funeral services were held by the Rev. G. M. Hughes at the
residence of Henry Oney after which internment occurred at t Chastain
Cemetery.  He was buried by the Masonic Fraternity of which he had long been
a faithful member.  H. L. Walton was born at Williamsport, Pennsylvania in
1816.  At an early age he moved with his parents to Marion County, Ohio
where he grew to manhood on his father's farm.  In 1838 he married Elizabeth
Clark, to which union eight children were born, only four of whom are now
living.  In October 1853 he settled with his wife and eight children on a
farm in Eden Township, where he resided for twenty two years.  In 1884 his
wife died and subsequently married Miss Lucy Loving, daughter of John
Loving, who lived but a short time afterwards.  The deceased was one of the
pioneers of '53 and belonged to a class of whom in a brief generation
transformed an unbroken wilderness into a cultivated region of thrift and
prosperity.  We was an honorable aiable, unobtrusive citizen.  The highest
mead of praise that can be respected and loved by those who knew him best
and this can be truthfully said of our lamented friend.  Peace to his
ashes - may he sleep tranquil.

Elizabeth (Clark) Walton - Decatur County Journal, 6 NOV 1884

Elizabeth, wife of H. L. Walton, died at her home in Center Township, this
county, Thursday, Oct. 23, 1884.  She was born in Wayne County, Ohio, May
22, 1815 and was therefore 69 years of age at the time of her death.  Her
maiden names was Elizabeth Clark.  She was married to Mr. Walton, who now
survives her, in 1837.  They moved to Indiana in 1847 and from there to Iowa
in 1853.  She united with the Christian Church when she was 18 years of age,
and continued true to the faith of that church till he death.  She was the
mother of nine children, six daughters and three sons.  Her three sons all
passed on before to await her coming, while the daughters with their aged
father still remain to mourn her loss.  Her funeral services were held at
her late residence by the undersigned and her remains were interred at the
family burying ground of Mr. Chastain.  She was a resident of the
neighborhood in which she died for over 30 years and was known and respected
by the entire community.  Her many friends will sincerely mourn the loss of

3.  MARTHA ANN3 WALTON (HENRY LENHART2, GEORGE1) was born 7 Oct 1838 in
Marion Co., OH, and died 12 Sep 1917 in Clarke Co., IA.  She married
BENJAMIN F. HALL 14 Dec 1855 in Decatur Co., IA, son of WARREN HALL and
CYNTHIA PARKS.  He was born 28 Nov 1834 in Monroe Co., IN, and died 23 Jul
1900 in Clarke Co., IA.

Obituary of Benjamin F. Hall - The Osceola Democrat, Thursday, 26 JUL 1900

Benjamin F. Hall, a citizen of Greenbay Township since 1859, died Monday,
July 22, at 8:00 a.m. after a three weeks' illness with carbuncle which at
last created a pressure on the nerves and brain inducing coma and death.  He
was sixty six years of age and had been an active and prominent citizen of
the township until recent years, when his unusual weight combined with
rheumatism had forced him to remain inactive.  He leaves his wife and two
sons and a daughter with many friends made in the course of an honorable and
honored life.  He belonged to the Christian church and Rev. Dyer of the
denomination came from Decatur County and conducted the funeral services at
his home Tuesday at 11 a.m.  The funeral was a very large one, friends
coming from Leon and other points at a distance to show their respect for
the deceased.  The burial was in Greenbay Cemetery where his father and
other relatives are lying.  Thus closes the record of another of Clarke
County's rugged, worthy pioneers who reaped a good material reward for his
labors and now enters into rest."

MOORE.  He was born 1849 in Iowa, and died in Decatur Co., IA.

7.  EDMOND PARKS4 HALL (MARTHA ANN3 WALTON, HENRY LENHART2, GEORGE1) was
born 8 Jan 1859 in Leon, Decatur Co., IA, and died 10 Jan 1938 in Lucas,
Lucas Co., IA.  He married FLORA ELLEN SMITH 8 Sep 1878 in Decatur Co., IA,
daughter of JAMES SMITH and CATHERINE JEFFERSON.  She was born 1 Jan 1859 in
Burlington, Des Moines Co., IA, and died 28 Nov 1949 in Leon, Decatur Co.,
IA.

Notes for EDMOND PARKS HALL:
Obituary of Edmond Parks Hall -  The Journal Reporter, Leon Iowa, 20 JAN
1938

Edmond Parks Hall, elsest son of Benjamin and Martha Walton Hall, was born
near Leon, Iowa on Jan. 8, 1859.  While yet an infant his parents moved to
the Hall homestead three miles west of Weldon, in Clarke County, where Ed
grew to manhood.  On Sept. 8, 1878, he was married to Miss Nellie Smith of
Van Wert.  To this union were born six children, four of whom have preceded
him in death.  During a revival meeting held by a Rev. Dyre in 1879 Ed and
his wife confessed faith in Jesus Christ and united with the Christian
Church of Van Wert.  The Ed Hall family had lived near the place of their
childhoodmost of their lives.  For about 10 years they lived in Van Wert
where Ed was in the mercantile business then they traded the store for a
farm southwest of Leon.  In 1907 they moved to New Mexico because of the
illness their eldest daughter, Bessie, but after her passing they returned
to Iowa and lived for many years on a farm just north of  the Hall
homestead.  A few years ago Mr. Hall retired from active duties and moved to
Lucas, Iowa, where the son Harry lives and where Mr. Hall passed away on
Jan. 10, 1938 at the age of 79 years and two days.  He is survived by his
wife and two sons, Harry of Lucas, and Roy of Leon; seven grandchildren and
five great grandchildren, besides one borther, Charles S. Hall and one
sister, Della Keeler, both of Weldon, and many friends made in the various
communities in which he has lived.  He was a member of the Masonic order in
Weldon and four of the brethren were among the pall bearers at the funeral
which was held at the Tuttle Funeral Home in Van Wert and internment made in
Green Bay Cemetery.

The death of Mr. Ed. Hall of Lucas occurred Monday morning.  He was the
brother of Mrs. B. W. Keeler of near Weldon.  The body was taken to Van Wert
where the funeral will be held, Wednesday.  The burial will be in Green Bay
Cemetery.  Friends extend sympathy to those bereived."
 

Notes for FLORA ELLEN SMITH:
Obituary of Flora Ellen (Smith) Hall - The Leon Journal Reporter, 8 DEC 1849

Flora Ellen Smith, Daughter of James and Kate Smith, was born January 1,
1859, near Burlington, Iowa and passed away at the home of her son in Leon,
Iowa, Novenber 28, 1949, at the age of 90 years 10 months and 27 days.  In
1879 she was united in marriage to Edward Park Hall.  To this union were
born three sons and three daughters, Harry, Roy, Bess, Ruby, Floyd, and
Freda.  Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hall became members of the
Christian Church in Van Wert.  She was preceded in death by her husband, one
son, and three daughters.  Surviving to mourn her death are two sons, Harry,
of Lucas, Iowa, and Roy, of Leon, Iowa, seven grandchildren, fourteen great
grandchildren,  several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.  Funeral
services were held Thursday, December 1, in the Stewart Funeral Home, with
Orville Gentzler, minister of the Leon Christian Church officiating.  Burial
was in Grean Bay Cemetery.
