I’ve “rescued” a group of 5 photographs belonging to the
HUGHES Family. The first is a photograph of the George M. HUGHES Family
of Leon, IA which was taken at the Ellinwood Studio in Leon, IA. This
photograph includes a man and woman in their 30’s and a boy about 2-4
years old, the photograph is dated Sept. 1897 and includes the
inscription “Yours Very Truly” as if it was given as a gift to someone.
The second photograph is identified as James Paul HUGHES and appears to
have been taken in the early 1900’s with James just an infant at the
time. There is no studio or location indicated on this photograph.
The 3rd photograph is identified as that of Hazel HUGHES at age 3
months, weight 15 lbs. This photograph is also likely from the early
1900’s with no studio or location included. The 4th photograph is one of
Hazel HUGHES (age 4 years) and Kenneth HUGHES (age 10 months). The
photograph also appears to have been taken in the early 1900’s with no
studio or location referenced on the photograph. The final (5th)
photograph is also one of Hazel HUGHES at age 2 years, taken at the
Drunkestry (sp?) Studio with no location included, again likely in the
early 1900’s.
I am hoping to locate someone from this HUGHES Family so that this
wonderful group of old photographs can be returned to the family. If you
are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please
contact me. ~Shelley Thorpe Cardiel |
