The purpose of The Decatur County Historical Society is to preserve historical artifacts of Decatur County and to share them through the Decatur County Historical Museum which is located in the 100 block of North Main in Leon.
The Museum is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day on Tuesday afternoons, 1-5p.m. Other times can be arranged by calling Bob Bixby at 641-446-3297, Loring Miller at Miller Insurance, 641-446-4186, or Chet Redman at Great Western Bank, 641-446-4841.
Officers are Loring Miller, President and Chet Redman, Curator of the Museum.
The Grand opening of the 2006 season for the Decatur County Historical Museum will be Friday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. Please come and enjoy the many artifacts of the history of Decatur County. Admission is free and we will be serving cookies and lemonade all afternoon.
The Museum will be open through September 29th, every Tuesday and Friday afternoons from 1 to 5. We are located in the 100 block of North Main in Leon.
