1.  RICHARD HERMAN2 GRINSTEAD  (RICHARD1) was born 24 Oct 1823 in Warren Co., Ky, and died 07 Jun 1884 in Davis Co., IA.  He married (1) ELIZA BUCK in Vernon, In.  She was born 05 Sep 1828 in Jennings Co., In, and died 11 Feb 1903.

Notes for ALZORA CHRISTINIA GRINSTEAD:

Mrs. Alzora Henderson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Piper of Drakesville Wednesday about midnight from infirmities incident to old age.  Deceased was born March 14, 1850.  She is survived by the following children, Earl Henderson of Bloomfield, Mrs. Mary Piper of Drakesville, Edgar Henderson of Ottumwa, and a daughter residing in Davenport whose name could not be ascertained.  Funeral services will be held at the Piper home some time Friday, arrangements of which will not be completed until the arrival of the daughter from Davenport.  Interment will be made in the Pollard cemetery south of Drakesville.

Alzora Christene Grinstead was born in Indiana, March 14, 1850 and passed peacefully from this life June 18, 1930, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Mary A. Piper of Drakesville, Iowa at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 4 days.  She was married to Daniel Henderson January 4, 1874.  To this union were born eight children, Katie Boatman residing at Davenport; Mary A. Piper of Drakesville; Edgar Henderson of Ottumwa; Earl Henderson of Bloomfield.  One son and three daughters, Elisha, Gail, Clara and and infant having preceded her.  Her companion having proceeded her September 9, 1927.  Besides the children she leaves one sister, Mrs. Nora Bales of Floris, also a host of relatives and friends.  She was of strong home tendency devoting her life to her home and family living at peace with her neighbors and enjoyed the esteem and respect of all her acquaintances.  After moving to Bloomfield about twelve years ago Mrs. Henderson united with the Christian church of that place in which membership she continued until her death.  Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mrs. Mary Piper, Drakesville, at two o'clock Friday afternoon by C.V. Allison of Bloomfield.  Burial in the Pollard cemetery.

Notes for DANIEL H HENDERSON:

Daniel H. Henderson son of Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson was born in Illinois, March 17, 1850 and died at his home in Bloomfield, Iowa, September 9, 1927.  He was united in marriage to Alzora Christine Grinstead, January 4th, 1874.  To this union were born eight children, four sons and four daughters.  Two sons and two daughters preceded him in death.  Those living are; Mrs. Katie Boatman of Davenport, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Piper of Drakesville, Iowa Mr. Edgar Henderson of Ottumwa, Iowa;  and Mr. Earl Henderson of Bloomfield, Iowa.  Besides these, there are 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  Mr. Henderson was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and proved his right to that membership by living a righteous life.  He was a splendid example of faith and patience.  While a sufferer for an extended period, he did not burden others with trouble, but strove to be cheerful at all times.  His passing is sadly regretted by the community.  The funeral service was held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2 O'clock.  Rev. Chas. S. Macy of the Christian church preached the sermon.  Mrs. Everett Francis and Mrs. Claude Swift sang.  Interment was made in the Pollard cemetery.
