Troy, Davis County, Iowa

The town of Troy was surveyed and platted by John W Ellis, February 15, 1848.

From land belonging to J I Earhart, James A Sawyers, J C Ewing, and D Haine.

It was named from Troy, Ohio. In 1851, the population was 101.

The Troy Academy was commenced about the year 1853.
