BLOOMFIELD TO HAVE CHAUTAUQUA
Program for 1910 Contains Names of Noted Men.
Bloomfield, April 1.- The program committee of the Davis County Chautauqua association have nearlyt completed the 1910 season program. From the noted speakers
they have engaged it promises to be a record breaker. Such men as Senator Gore, the blind senator of Oklahoma; Dr H W Sears, John Temple graves, Senator Gilliland, Mrs Lake,
Rev Miss Van Petzel, Dr  C S Medbury and Frank Traverse appear on the list. The children's work this year will be under the management of Miss Gassoway, while the musical 
portion will be represented by the National band, Ladies Symphony orchesta and the Jubilee singers. Rev J W Porter, formerly pastor of the local Methodist
Episcopal church, will act as platform manager.

WEDS BLOOMFIELD COUPLE
Rev T Brown Presided at Nuptials, Held in Clerk's office this Afternoon. Shortly after 1 o'clock this afternoon Clifford Harris and Leanora L Hartwick, both of Bloomfield, plighted
their troth in the office of the clerk of the district court, and Rev Thomas Brown tied the nuptial knot. Few spectators about the building gathered to witness the wedding.

In the office of the clerk of district court the wedding of John E Brown to Miss Maud Thompson took place Thursday afternoon. 
Rev Thomas Brown performed the ceremony. The couple hail from Belknap. 

FUNERALS
The funeral of Mrs Matilda Jane Allbright was held Sunday afternoon from the Wesley Chapel, conducted by Rev William Huff. The remains were
interred in the Wesley chapel cemetery.

Mrs U G Johnson passed through West Grove Saturday on her way to Monterery to visit the family of J J and Z T Johnson.
Mrs Lizzie Harris and Miss Horn and Miss Grace Minks were shopiing in Ottumwa Friday.

Charles Gableman's horses became scared near Toombs blacksmith shop and dragged him about three blocks before they were stopped.
Sunday Julius Morse's horse became frightened, supposedly at an auto and threw him and Bruce Richardson's boy out. Monday as Jake Hockersmith
was coming to town his team became frightened. In jumping out Mrs Hockersmith caught her foot, throwing her beneath the wheels, which ran over her limbs.
Mrs James Games broke her collar bone Sunday in a runaway, Monday as Nelson Stewart was going on his mail route a runaway team ran over him and demolished his rig.
Word was received Monday morning of the death of Andrew Shepherd which occured Sunday evening at five o'clock at his home in Nevada, Mo. Mr Shepherd
was an old resident of this county, living on farm four miles south of town until six years ago.
Eugene Fortune spent the first part of the week with his parents, C D Fortune and wife.
Mrs Henry Barker visited Monday with her sisters Mrs Henry Hancock and Mrs H C Black on her return to Spencer, Ia., from a visit at Milton
Dr Pittman's little son is very ill at this time.
Mrs Neff Hill who has been a the hospital the past two weeks was able to return home.
Dr H C Young recieved word on Monday of the illness of Dr Wray Young's baby of Hutchinson, Kans. The child has pneumonia fever.

WILLIAM PIPER was born in Ohio January 1842, died at his home near Drakeville, Ia., April 8, 1910. The deceased was a member
of the Tenth Mo. and also a member of the Third Ia. The deceased leaves his companion and six children: Harry who lives at the home place, 
Mrs Ellie Kelsie who lives at Moulton, another daughter living near Bloomfield, Charlie, living at Drakeville, Walter of California, and Horace
of Ottumwa. All were present for the funeral. Services were held at the home Sunday at 2 pm conducted by Rev A D Huff, after which the 
remains were laid to rest in the Drakeville cemetery.

ELDON MAN DIES IN CALIF
Word has bene received here that W T Hughes, formerly of Eldon, died in the hospital at San Jose, California,
and that his remains would be shipped to Eldon for interment. Comrade Hughes was a member of Company "B", Second
Iowa Calvary. He was raised in Davis County opposite Eldon. He has several brothers, two of whom live in this city.
He moved to california several years ago with his family. He was blind for many years, from disease of the yess contracted
in the service.
