Dora May Sample was born near Delmore, McPherson, Kansas, May 11, 188, and died at her home
three miles northwest of Belknap October 20. She had not been well for several months but 
was up and around until the day before she died. She was taken seriously ill Monday noon
and died the following morning. She leaves a father, mother, one brother and three sisters 
and other relatives, besides a host of friends to mourn her loss. The burial services 
were held at her home, conducted by Rev Perry Heckart, October 21, after which the remains
were interred in the Sherman Cemetery.

Miss Leilah Cleland entertained a few friends at the Cleland home north
of the city Saturday evening. Elegant refreshments were served.
Messrs. Harry Wishard, Guy Mclaughlin. Harry Young and Misses Jennie Leasure, 
Florence Watkins and Maude Corrick spent Sunday in Milton. guests of Miss Nora Drake.
E. C. Morrow, a teacher in the public school, has resigned his position and will become
an employee of the Exchange bank. Ms Cleo Spencer has been chosen to fill the vacancy.

Hon. J. H. Ford. Mrs. Ford, and their daughter, Mrs. Henry Warrington, returned Saturday 
from an extended visit at Mr. Ford's old home in Jefferson county, Ohio. The trip was
one of great pleasure.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Swift of Des Moines, spent Saturday and Sunday
with relatives and friends in Davis county.
Mr and Mrs. D. H. Elam spent Saturday and Sunday in Fairfield with friends.
S. F. Darnielle of Chicago, formerly of this place, spent Sunday here with friends.
Misses Myrtle Reeves. Sadie Toombs, Flo Corrick and Ires Burgess, entertained a few friends
Saturday evening at a mask party at the Reeves home. 
Soap Creek, Mrs. P. Heckard was called to near Ormanville on account of the illness of her mother.
Ora Sample was an Ottumwa caller Wednesday.
R T. Sample was a recent caller in Ottumwa Tuesday.
Jess Crist was in Belknap Friday.
Wm. Bradberry was culler in Belknap Friday.
Mrs. Mary Sample and daughter Dora were Belknap callers Tuesday.
Mrs. Mary Crist and daughter Lydia were Drakesville callers one day last week.
Nora Sample, of 112 North Davis street, South Ottumwa, spent Sunday at the parental home of Mr and Mrs R T Sample. 
Will Shepherd spent Sunday with Harry Sample.
Mrs Heckart of Ormanville is very ill.
Mrs Wm Bell of South Ottumwa, who was called to Dadeville, Mo., by the death of her mother, returned home.
Marion Overturf and family were Bloomfield callers.
Christie Heckard was an Ormanville caller Friday.
Henry Rankin will soon have his new house finished.
Rev P Heckard and family attended service near Floris.
John Shepherd and son Ray were Bloomfield callers Saturday.
Floris, Lewis Conner, of Lebanon, is visiting at the home of A. H. Plank.
Mrs. Carrie Wright returned to her home in Eldon Thursday evening.
Miss Anna Dufflield, of Bloomfield, attended the teachers' meeting at Floris Friday evening.
