The following list of WII casualties from
Perry schools was found in the 1946 Perry High School annual, the "Eclipse."

DEAN KENAN, ELECTRICIAN’S MATE SECOND CLASS
Dean Kenan, electrician’s mate second class in the Navy Seabees, was
killed on August 24, 1944, somewhere in the Hawaiian area. A student of
Perry High, he attended the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades.

LT. RICHARD KING
Lt. Richard King, age 20, of the Army Air Corps, was reported missing in
Germany on Dec. 31, 1944. Graduating with the class of 1942 he was
active in drama, football, basketball, track and band.

2ND LT, JOHN MARCKRES
2nd Lt. John Marckres, age 28, of the Army Infantry, was reported killed
in action on September 7, 1944, in the European Area. A graduate with
the class of 1934, he was active In band, orchestra, track, wrestling
and football.

PFC. VICTOR KINDER
PFC. Victor Kinder, of the Army Infantry, age 28, was killed in action
on February 27,1945, in Luxembourg. He was awarded the Bronze Star for
combat service. Pfc. Kinder was in service eight months. He attended
Perry High in the ninth grade.

PFC. JOHN McCAMMON
Pfc. John McCammon, age 37, of the Army Infantry, died in Rome on May
31, 1944, after spending three years overseas in North Africa and
Sicily. He was a graduate of the class of ‘26. While in school he was
active in track, football, and basketball.

TECH. SGT. ROBERT NEAD
Tech. Sgt. Robert Nead, a radio operator on a B-29, age 23, was killed
on April 2, 1945. He entered the service in January, 1943, and was sent
overseas in the early part of 1945, being stationed at Saipan. He made
three flights over Tokyo. A graduate of Perry High in 1939, he
participated in HI-Y, basketball, football and chorus.

PFC. DANIEL SALOCKER
Pfc. Daniel Salocker, age 21, was killed in action on May 1, 1945, on
Okinawa. He was sent overseas February 1944. Pfc. Salocker was wounded
while serving in the battle of Saipan. He attended the ninth grade in
Perry High. Daniel was awarded the Purple Heart.
PFC PAUL SALOCKER
Pfc. Paul Salocker, age 24, was killed in action on December 21, 1944.
Entering the service in November of 1943, he served with the U. S. Army
Infantry on the western front. Pfc. Salocker was awarded the Purple
Heart. He attended Perry High a short time.

PFC. HOMER WESTBURG JR.
Pfc. Homer Westburg Jr., age 21, of the Army Infantry was killed on
December 24, 1944, in France. A graduate of Perry High in 1941, he was
active in drama, HI-Y, stagecraft, chorus and art. He received the
Silver Star posthumously.

PRIVATE HAROLD TIETJEN
Private Harold Tietjen, age 28, a machine gunner with the American
Forces at Anzio beach-head was killed in action on June 1,1945, in
Italy. Private Tietjen was a graduate of Perry High with the class of
1935. He was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.

2ND LT. KENT DORMAN
2nd Lt. Kent Dorman, of the Army Signal Corps, age 27, was killed in
action on March 26, 1945, in Germany. He entered service January 20,
1941. Lieutenant Dorman attended Perry High.
PVT. EUGENE CURRY
Pvt. Eugene Curry, age 22, was killed on August 11, 1944, somewhere in
France. He was overseas just one month. Pvt. Curry attended Perry High
in the ninth and tenth grades.
2ND LT. EDWARD FITZGERALD
2nd Lt. Edward Fitzgerald, of the Army Air Corps, age 23, was
killed in France on November 24, 1944. He graduated from Perry High in
1941 and was active in football, basketball, track and band. Lieutenant
Fitzgerald was awared the Air Medal and Presidential Citation.
STAFF SGT. FLOYD DIXON
Staff Sgt. Floyd Dixon, age 25, was killed in Germany on
February 13, 1945, after serving three years in the Panama Canal Zone.
Sergeant Dixon attended Perry High was active in junior high football.
He was awarded the combat Badge posthumously.
CORPORAL ALBERT HARPER
Corporal Albert Harper, of the Army Tank Corps, age 22, was
reported killed in action in Luxembourg on January 22, 1945. Corporal
Harper attended Perry High for a few months. He was in service three
years.
