| The following list of names is from the "Book of Original Entries" at the Dallas County Courthouse, Adel, Iowa, which records the first purchasers of land in the county from its formation to approximately 1873. But this list covers the period through 1852. The book gives in addition to the names of the first purchasers: location of the land, price per acre, number of acres, date of Purchase and date of patent. In not all cases was a patent issued to the purchaser. In many cases a name would appear more than once in the same township and range, when this happened the name is shown only once. The present township names have been added to further identify the locations. |
