MAY DAY FETE BIG EVENT.

   On account of the May Day fete

held at the school athletic park Fri-

day afternoon, Dallas Center business 

houses were closed until the conclus-

ion of the program.  A very large

crowd assembled to witness it, and

saw something good.

   Each department from the little

tots to High School, dressed in gay

colors, put on their own parts to the

delight of all.  The long procession,

as it marched to the grounds, was 

heralded by Glenn Mitchell, followed

by the school band, then the car-

dinal, John Royer, who preced-

ed the May Queen, Dorothy Boyd,

and the queen's attendants.  The fol-

lowed the smaller pupils down to the

kindergarten folk.  The Flowers and

the Frogs won considerable admira-

tion.  There was the dance of Spring

by Dorothy Loring, the dance of the

Sun by Darlene Barrett and the

dance of the Wind by May Offen-

houser.  Drills and physical training

exercises were put on by pupils of

the 6th, 7th and 8th grades.  The

May pole was wound by girls of the

High School.

       Gala Affair

JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET AT

NEW YOUNKER TEA ROOMS

FRIDAY EVENING.

   The Junior-Senior banquet of the

Dallas Center High School, given Fri-

day evening at the Younker tea

rooms, was a delightful time for all.

Nearly forty, including instructors,

partook of the bountiful feed and en-

joyed the after-dinner toast program.

Amid the beautiful surroundings of

the exquisite and well-appointed ban-

queting place, there were pretty deco-

rations formed of class colors, which

predominated in the table decorations.

   After the banquet, a theatre party

at Des Moines theatre, was the fea-

ture of the evening.
