Death Takes Another West Side Citizen
Mrs. Anna Erp Passes Away At Her Home in West Part of Town After Short Illness

This community was shocked when the news spread at noon last Thursday that Mrs. Anna Erp had passed away at her home in the west part of town at eleven o'clock following only a few hours illness with intestinal trouble. Most of our people were not even aware of the fact that she was ill and her passing was indeed sudden. The day before her death (Wednesday) she had been able to do her housework, but about noon she complained of not feeling well and her condition grew continually worse in spite of all that could be done for her in the way of nursing and medical attention.

Mrs. Erp had resided in this city for seven years and during her residence made many warm friends here who will sadly miss her in the future. She was an active member of St. John's Ev. Ladies Aid society and a true believer in the word of God. Even the day before her death she had been busily engaged on some fancy work she intended to donate towards the Ladies Aid bazar.

Mrs. Anna Erp nee Goetsch, was born November 10, 1858 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In 1881 she emigrated to this country settling in Arcadia, where she was united in marriage with Detlef Erp in 1882, who died in 1891. In the spring of 1915 she moved to West Side and has since made her home here until her death Oct. 5, 1922, at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 26 days.

She leaves to mourn her two brothers, John Goetsch of Lake View, Iowa and Wm. Goetsch of this city.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from St. John's Ev. Church. Rev. Theo. Thomas pastor of the church officiating. Interment was made in the West Side cemetery.

Those present at the funeral from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vinke, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ewoldt, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Vinke, Wm. Wiese, Mr. and Mrs. Clausen, all of Manning; Detlef Wiese and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kruetzfeldt of Aspinwall; Mr. and Mrs. John Goetsch and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lille and son of Lake View. Besides these there were also many old friends and neighbors present from Arcadia.

We join with the many friends here in expressing sympathy to the bereaved in their hour of sorrow and loss.

Cards of Thanks

We wish to thank the many friends and especially the members of St. John's Ev. Ladies Aid society for their timely assistance and acts of sympathy during the illness and death of our beloved sister Mrs. Anna Erp.
