Irmgard (Bottger) Tibbs (1914 - 1986)
Irmgard Minnie Tibbs was born on December 8, 1914 in Otter Creek Township, Crawford County, Iowa the daughter of Johannes and Martha Kusch Bottger. She died Saturday morning, February 8, 1986 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 71.Irmgard spent her childhood years in Crawford County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She received her formal education in the rural schools near her home. She later moved to California where she was employed by the Douglas Aircraft Company at Long Beach.
On May 22, 1944 Irmgard was united in marriage to Thomas Grant Tibbs. To this union one son Thomas John Tibbs was born. Irmgard returned to Iowa in 1945 where she was employed as a household helper in various homes. Due to failing health she was forced to retire from her duties and made her home in Schleswig. Irmgard was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig and a member of the Immanuel Ladies Aid for many years.
In addition to her parents, Irmgard was preceded in death by four brothers, Otto, Johannes, Alfred, and Raymond, and two sisters, Olga and Hilda.
Survivors include her son Thomas and wife Karen of Clovis, New Mexico, and two grandsons, Toby and Marc, as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 11, 1986 at 10:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery near Schleswig. The Rev. Richard Nelson and Vicar Karl Stewart officiated at the services and graveside rites. Mrs. Marlene Hight served as organist with Mrs. Rubie Kastner serving as soloist. Hymns for the services included How Great Thou Art and Beyond the Sunset.
Serving as pallbearers for the services were Herbert Riessen, Ernie Grell, James Else, Nick Wilken, Howard Lenz, John Wulf, and Mark Christiansen.
Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Schleswig.

Jay Michael Teut (1968 - 1968)
Jay Michael, the son of Corvin Teut and Nancy nee Bruhn was born on September 11th at the Battle Creek Hospital. He was brought to the St. Luke's Medical Center at Sioux City a little over a week ago, and because his condition did not improve was taken to Iowa City University Hospital where he died on September the 27th about 6:00 p.m.Jay was baptized by Pastor Wiese at St. Luke's on Tuesday September 24th. He is survived by his parents and one sister Gina.
Services were held Monday at 2:00 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick A. Wiese officiating. Burial was at Crawford Height Memory Gardens.

Orville Teut (1921 - 1964)
Funeral Services held Wednesday for Orville TeutFuneral services were held for Orville Teut on Wednesday, November 11, 1964 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ricketts with Rev. F. A. Wiese officiating. Music was by Mrs. Leo Bruhn organist; hymns were "In the Hour of Trial" and "The Lord is My Shepherd" by the congregation.
Orville Alfred Leonhard, son of Herman Teut and Anna nee Wiedemann was born in Soldier Township on October 30, 1921. He was baptized in infancy at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township.
He died November 8th at Glenwood after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Elmer and one sister Evelyn.
He is survived by eight brothers: Melvin of Denison, Ralph of Ute, Arlo of Battle Creek, Herbert of Danbury, Kermit of Charter Oak, Waldo of Ricketts, Raymond of Anamosa and Everett of Omaha. Three sisters: Edna, wife of Marcus Wodtke of Charter Oak; Ruby, wife of August Waderich of Mapleton and Erna, wife of Gilbert Nihsen of Schleswig. He attained to 43 years and nine days.
Pallbearers were Oran Teut, David Teut, Roger Teut, Gale Teut, Delbert Wodtke and Lo-Wayne Nihsen. Burial was in Soldier township cemetery under the direction of the Sinn Funeral Home of Schleswig.

Adeline Anna (Christiansen) Namanny (1916 - 1979)
Mrs. Roy Namanny, 62, of Calma, Calif., formerly of Mapleton, died Saturday at a hospital in San Francisco after a lengthy illness.Mrs. Namanny, the former Adeline Anna Christiansen, was born July 24, 1916, near Charter Oak. She was married Sept. 21, 1933 in Nebraska. They farmed in the Mapleton, Smithland and Dunlap communities until moving to California in 1960.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Daly.
She was preceded in death by her one son, her mother, one brother and one sister. Her parents names were Ben and Eleanora (Clausen) Christiansen.
Survivors include the widower; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Banks of Mapleton, Mrs. Robert (Joyce) O'Daniel of Riverside, Calif., and Mrs. Kirk (Becky) Young and Miss Patty, both of Calma; two sons, Dennis of Mapleton and Allan of Sacramento, Calif., her father, Ben Christiansen of Mapleton; two sisters, Mrs. Lewis (Mahala) Meyer of Smithland and Mrs. Lawrence (Marie) Gosch of Mapleton; two brothers, Elmer of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Robert of Mapleton; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services were held June 7, at 11:00 at the St. Matthews Lutheran Church at Mapleton with the Rev. Philip Ritter officiating, and Hazel Bruning, as organist.
Pallbearers were Wayne Gosch, Clark Smith, Mark Christiansen, Don Cassens, Jim Namanny, Curtis Namanny. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton, under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home, Mapleton.

Alma (Carstensen) Peper (1893 - 1969)
Hold Funeral Services For Alma Peper.Funeral services for Alma Peper were held Friday, October 17 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, with the Rev. R. J. Ratzlaff officiating. Mrs. John Evers was the organist and Mrs. Ernie Grell and Mrs. Don Meyer sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me."
Alma Peper, daughter of Peter and Marie (Petersen) Carstensen was born October 19, 1893 in Crawford County. She married Herman Peper at Schleswig on December 18, 1912.
Mr. and Mrs. Peper lived in Schleswig for twenty nine years and had lived in O'Brien County previously. Mr. Peper died in 1967. Mrs. Peper died at her home in Schleswig on October 14, 1969 after a brief illness. She was a member of the United Church of Christ.
Survivors include five daughters Mrs. Ray (Florence) Gunnermann of Luverne, Minnesota; Mrs. Clarence (Agnes) Glaser of Hartley; Mrs. J. D. (Viola) Graham, of Sioux City; Mrs. Wayne (Lillian) Anderson of Norfolk, Nebraska; Mrs. Ralph (Lorraine) Marden, of Maryland and one son Raymond of Schleswig; nineteen grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren; two sisters Emma Meeks, of Hartley; Catherine Knop of California; three brothers, Ben Carstensen of Ricketts, Emil Carstensen, of Mapleton and Arnold Clausen of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and one half sister.
Pallbearers were Peter Flick, Donald Glaser, Roger Seibrecht, LeRoy Gonnerman, Marvin Gonnerman, and Raymond Peper, Jr. Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery.

Amanda Johanna (Jepsen) Pickel (1900 - 1984)
Amanda Johanna Pickel was born on a farm near Schleswig, Iowa, February 21, 1900, the daughter of Fred and Margaret Marquardt Jepsen. When she was an infant she was baptized at the Soldier Township Lutheran Church and later confirmed at what is now the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Amanda was raised on the family farm and received her formal education at the local rural schools near her home. After her schooling, she was employed by area residents doing domestic work.On January 22, 1932, Amanda was united in marriage with Hans Pickel at Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home on a farm near Schleswig where her husband operated a Blacksmith Shop for many years. In 1965, they retired and moved to Denison. Hans died August 17, 1981, and Amanda continued to reside in Denison and for the past several months had made her home at the Denison Care Center.
Amanda died Saturday evening, March 31, 1984, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. At the time of her death she had attained the age of 84 years, 1 month, and 10 days. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Walter Pickel, one daughter, Mary Busch, five brothers, Fred, Herman, William, Edward and Henry Jepsen, and three sisters, Emma, Annie and Mary.
She is survived by one daughter, Cindy, Mrs. Les Campbell of Dumas, Texas, Jerry Owings, who was raised in the Pickel home of Mori Arty, New Mexico, three grandchildren, one sister, Ella Kuehnhold of Denison, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Peter and Jane Pickel of Schleswig and Elsie Jepsen of Charter Oak. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, many of which reside in Germany.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 1984, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Jack D. Heck officiating. Comfort in music was provided by Mr. Art Beeck singing "Beyond the Sunset" and "Rock of Ages" with Mrs. Fred Rabe serving as organist. Casket bearers included Vernon Kuehnhold, Alfred Jepsen, Herman Jepsen, Jr., Bill Jeschke, Bernhard Pickel and Wilbert Pickel. Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery at Schleswig.

Amanda Louise (Burk) Petersen (1883 - 1984)
Amanda Louise Petersen was born on May 31, 1883 in Morgan Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Conrad and Wilmena Burk. She died May 31, 1984, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, at the age of 101.Amanda spent her early years on a family farm near Schleswig. She attended rural schools as well as Trinity Lutheran School in Grant Township. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith during the years of her education.
On Oct. 14, 1910, Amanda was united in marriage to John Petersen at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they farmed near Schleswig for 38 years before retiring in 1948 and moving into Schleswig. In 1954 her husband died. Since that time she has continued to make Schleswig her home until April of 1980 when she became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Amanda was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include, two sons, Walter Petersen and his wife Hazel and Cyrenus Petersen and his wife Kathleen, both of Schleswig. Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held June 4, at 10:30 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Nelson officiated at the services. Mrs. Leroy Hight served as organist with Immanuel Ladies Choir. Hymns included, Be Still My Soul and Rock of Ages. Pallbearers were Vernis Aldag, Art Kuehl, DeWayne Sonksen, Fritz Berger, Art Hollander and Larry Clausen. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Schleswig.

Amelia (Schultz) Peters (1900 - 1970)
Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Peters were held on Friday, June 5, 1970 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig with Rev. Henry Held of Sloan, Iowa officiating. Mrs. John Evers was organist for the service. Jeanette Grell and Evelyn Martens sang the hymns "Abide With Me" and "In The Garden". Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edgar Else, Fritz Berger, Emil Brockman, Gilbert Kastner, Lenard Kastner and Arthur Lafrentz.Mrs. Amelia Peters was a daughter of Fred and Lena Groth Schultz. She was born May 11, 1900 in Crawford County. She was united in marriage to Frank Peters on December 16, 1925 at Denison. One son, Loren of Schleswig, was born to this union. After their marriage they farmed on the home place till 1952, when they moved to Schleswig and since then have been members of this community.
She died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison on June 2, 1970. She attained the age of 70 years and 22 days.
Survivors include her husband, Frank, son, Loren Peters, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents three brothers, and one sister.

Anna Caroline Ida (Rabe) Neumann (1906 - 1986)
Anna Caroline Ida Neumann was born on Feb. 22, 1906 in Hanover Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Rothe Rabe. She died Sept. 5, 1986 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 80 years six months and fourteen days.Anna spent her early years on a farm in Hanover Township. She received her early childhood education at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Hanover Township. Anna was baptized on March 25, 1906 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was confirmed on April 13, 1919 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. After she completed her schooling she went to work in a Taylor Shop.
On Oct. 20, 1929, Anna was united in marriage to Arthur H. Neumann, the service being performed in the parsonage of Zion Lutheran Church. This marriage sustained them both for more than fifty-one years. Anna and Arthur made their home on a farm near Denison, until 1966 when they retired from farming and moved into the city of Denison. In 1970 they joined their son Donald in Lubbock, Texas where they worked in the same business until Dec. 1, 1979, when they moved to Broken Arrow, Ok., with their son and their grandson to establish a family business in Tulsa. Arthur died on Nov. 13, 1980 in Tulsa. Anna returned to Denison and has lived here since 1981.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include, her children, Donald Neumann and his wife Phyllis from Coweta, Ok., Robert Neumann and his wife Shirley of Council Bluffs; Edmund Neumann and his wife Ardith of Missoula, Mont., Leone Hansen and her husband Earl of Boone, Janice Hall and her husband Dick of Knoxville; Albert Neumann and his wife Connie of Adel; Rose Korver and her husband Muryl of Sheldon; Raymond Neumann and his wife Janet of Madrid, Gerald Neumann and his wife Judy of Denison. Twenty-six grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Two brothers: Carl Rabe of Omaha, Ne., and Frederick Rabe of Denison.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. The Rev. Donald Fraker officiated at the services. Mrs. Darold Kahl served as organist with Henry Henningsen as soloist.
Serving as pallbearers were: Loring Neumann, Mike Neumann, Paul Neumann, Lyle Neumann, Scott Neumann, Gordon Hansen, Lyle Hansen, Michael Hall, Craig Korver, David Neumann and Jeffrey Neumann. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison.

Ann Greta (Johannsen) Powers (1907 - 1986)
Ann Greta Powers was born on January 27, 1907, in Soldier Township, Iowa, the daughter of John and Louise Backhaus Johannsen. She died Saturday evening, May 31, 1986, at the Morningside Care Center in Ida Grove at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 4 days.Ann spent her childhood years in Crawford County. She received her formal education in the Denison schools, graduating from the Denison High School.
Ann was united in marriage to Emerald (Mickey) Powers on July 12, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kansas. They made their home in Omaha, Nebraska, where Ann was employed a number of years by the Grain Exchange. Emerald died in 1963. Ann continued to make her home in Omaha until moving to Schleswig in 1978. She entered the Morningside Care Center in Ida Grove in January of this year.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by one brother Pete.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen Johannsen of Schleswig, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Ann was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, the United Church Ladies Aid and Dorcas.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 3, 1986, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery near Schleswig. The Rev. Leon G. Triggs officiated at the services and graveside rites. Mrs. Dorothy Jessen served as organist for the services with Mrs. Rubie Kastner serving as soloist. Hymns for the services included "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" and "How Great Thou Art". Serving as pallbearers for the services were Brent Jensen, Craig Johannsen, Bill Petersen, Dale Wiebers, Edwin Clausen and Randy Kragel.

Arthur Gustav Popken (1897 - 1974)
Arthur Gustav Popken, son of Herman and Ernestine Lutz Popken, was born on October 21, 1897, in Goodrich Township. Here, he grew to manhood, attending the rural schools.On February 9, 1921, he was married to Alice Rath, and they continued to live on the farm in Goodrich Township, until retiring to their present home in Denison in 1945. Mr. and Mrs. Popken are the parents of three daughters, namely, Helen (Mrs. Vernon Neumann) of Denison; Lorraine, (Mrs. Pete Schmidt) of Hemet, Calif., and Maxine, (Mrs. Howard Holmes) of Denison. Arthur and Alice celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1970.
Mr. Popken, was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison being baptized here in infancy, and later confirmed. He was a voting member of the congregation and served as an elder for several years.
He had been in poor health the past year, and entered the Crawford County Memorial Hospital on June 7, where he passed away on June 13, at the age of 76.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Alice, and three daughters, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Louie of Boulder, Colorado, four sisters, Mrs. Emma Haase, of Eventide, Mrs. Jack (Erna) Ruberg, of Denison, Mrs. Harry (Annie) Rath, of Denison, Mrs. Elsie Thomsen of Denison, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison at 10:30 a.m., June 17, with Pastor Robert Maschke officiating. Henry Henningsen sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Heaven Is My Home" accompanied by Mrs. Maschke at the organ. The congregation joined in singing "Abide With Me". Burial was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Huebner Funeral Home of Denison was in charge of arrangements.

August Fritz Jurgen Petersen (1914 - 1966)
Funeral services for August Fritz Jurgen Petersen were held Jan. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Schleswig with Rev. F. A. Wiese officiating. Music was provided by the church choir, accompanied by Mrs. Garnet Schmidt. Pallbearers were Irwin Bubke, Fred Beeck, Emil Petersen, Lorenz Petersen, Marvin Zage, and Marvine Petersen. Interment was in the Morgan Twp. Cemetery with the Huebner Funeral home in charge.Son of Christian and Minnie Boger Petersen, he was born in Goodrich township on Nov. 8, 1914. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church in Denison where he was a member until 10 years ago when he transferred to the Immanuel Lutheran church in Schleswig.
On Feb. 16, 1941 he was married to Helen Schultz by Pastor Wagner at St. Paul's Lutheran church in Hanover township. They made their home on a farm in Goodrich township, later moving to a farm south of Schleswig where they were living at the time of his death on Jan. 12.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merlyn. Survivors are his wife, Helen and his children, Roger, Omaha; Gordon and Marjorie (Mrs. Curtiss Bruhn), both of Charter Oak; Richard, Sharon, Gail and Scott, all at home, one grandchild; two brothers, Elmer and Louis, one sister, Ida (Mrs. Henry Eggert), all of Denison.

August Daniel Nehls (1892 - 1979)
August Daniel Nehls was born April 25, 1892 in Washington Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Marten and Hannah Lochmiller Nehls. He died June 9, 1979 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 87.August was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On March 6, 1916 he was united in marriage to Elma Mundt at Manilla. To this union two sons were born, Virgil and Roland.
August farmed in Washington Township until 1949 at which time he moved into Denison. He was an active member of his church, serving as a trustee of Zion Lutheran Church for a number of years as well as serving on the building committee during the building of the parish hall.
August was also active in the communities in which he lived, serving as a Township trustee in Washington Township for 16 years, on the Crawford County Hospital Board, the Crawford County Soil District for 24 years, on the Crawford County fair board and the Denison Planning and Zoning Commission for many years. August was also a member of the Kiwanis Club in Denison from 1950 until 1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elma, two sons, Virgil and Roland, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Vernette Nehls of Denison; two granddaughters, Diane, Mrs. Melvin Smith of North Platte, Neb., and Kathy Nehls of Ames; one sister, Mrs. Zena Renken of Lincoln, Calif.
Funeral services were held June 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Heck officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Art Joens, Kenneth Steckelberg, Robert Juhl, Meinhard Feddersen, Everett Norelius and Leroy Mundt. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home.

Broder P. Petersen (1901 - 1988)
Broder P. Petersen was born January 14, 1901, in Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Broder J. and Christine Lorenzen Petersen, and died April 10, 1988, at the Horn Memorial Hospital, Ida Grove, Iowa, at the age of 87 years.Mr. Petersen lived in the Schleswig community most of his life, with the exception of a few early years during which he and his family lived in the Ipswich, South Dakota area. He attended the Schleswig Public Schools.
On April 27, 1925, Broder was united in marriage to Selma H. Bendixen in Schleswig. Three sons: Lewis, William and Stephen were born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Petersen were privileged to celebrate sixty years of marriage with family and friends.
Broder was a life-long member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. He was active in the Businessmen's Club, served as a board member of the Community Club and was on the Community Chest Committee. He served for thirty-five years on the Schleswig Volunteer Fire Department and was a bowling and golfing enthusiast. He is well remembered as one of the first active participants on the Schleswig Golf Course.
Mr. Petersen was employed at the G.P. Hollander Garage for 21 years. In 1939, he joined John H. Evers in partnership in the Texaco Service Station. He retired from this business in 1964 and continued to live in Schleswig until 1984, when they moved to the Ida View Heights Retirement Apartments in Ida Grove.
Broder was preceded in death by his parents; one son Stephen Lee at the age of 2; a grandson Stephen Douglas at the age of 23; four brothers: Hugo, Martin, Harry and Meinhart; and one sister, Hertha DePledge.
Survivors include his wife, Selma of Morningside Manor, Ida Grove; two sons, Lewis and his wife Arlene of Ames and William and his wife Joyce of Schleswig; seven grandchildren: Cynthia Petersen of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Timothy Petersen and wife Cynthia of Rindge, New Hampshire, Patrice and husband Michael Sharp of Pender, Nebraska, Joel Petersen of Aurora, Colorado, Natalie and husband Lawrence Coubrough of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Kirk Petersen of Geneva, Iowa, and Roxanne and husband Albert D. Richards of New York City; eight great-grandchildren: Justin, Chad and Adam Sharp, Stephanie, Andrew and Cole Coubrough, Sara and Megan Petersen; one sister, Caroline Adams of Gainesville, Florida; a sister-in-law, Edna Petersen of Alexandria, Minnesota; and brother-in-law, Ed Lehman of Denison.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 1988, at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig with Rev. Darrell T. Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery at Schleswig. Mrs. Colleen Goode served as organist for a trio consisting of Barbara Buffum, Janet Lafrentz and Pam Gronau singing "A Closer Walk With Thee" and "The Lord is My Shepherd". Carl Neumann was born Jan. 17, 1916 near Denison, Iowa, the son of Gustave and Katherine Neumann. He died Jan. 22, 1979 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 63.Carl was raised on a family farm in Milford Township. He received his formal education in the Lutheran School. Carl was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On Oct. 9, 1938 Carl was united in marriage to Bertha Thies at Denison. They made their home on Carl's home place in Milford Township, where they have since continued to reside.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, one grand-daughter and one great grandson.
Survivors include, his wife Bertha of Denison, his children, Kenneth of Denison, Frederick of Westside, William of Denison, Carolyn, Mrs. Wayne Schroeder of Ida Grove, Katherine, Mrs. Jerome Wilwerding of Harlan, Coleen, Mrs. James Fredericks of Ida Grove, Karlen, Mrs. Russell Watson of Longmont, Colo., Maxine, Mrs. Steven Winey of Deloit and Dale of Denison. Also by 29 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers, Arthur of Lubback, Texas and Walter of Denison, and three sisters, Edna, Mrs. Bryce Tucker of Denison, Hilda, Mrs. Walter Schneller of Centralia, Mo., and Rose, Mrs. Greg Doty of Seattle, Wash.
Funeral services were held Jan. 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Jack Heck officiated at the services. Pallbearers included, Martin Schneider, Herman Schneider, Walter Jepsen, Paul Schneller, Albert Schneller and Donald Lilleholm. Edna A. (Neddermeyer) Nemitz (1907 - 1986)
Edna Augusta Nemitz was born on April 27, 1907, near Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin Neddermeyer and Augusta Hansen Neddermeyer. She died on Friday, December 26, 1986, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 30 days.Edna was baptized at an early age and later confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak by Pastor Amstine. She grew up near Charter Oak attending the Lutheran church school and public schools in Charter Oak.
On March 25, 1928, she was united in marriage to August Nemitz at the St. John's Lutheran Church. They made their home on a farm in Hanover Township until they moved to Denison in 1957. She worked as a nurses aid at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital for many years. After retiring from hospital duty, she assisted with domestic work in homes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Rodney Nemitz, two sisters and six brothers.
Survivors include her husband August; three sons, Milfred and his wife, Jeanette of Denison, August Jr. and his wife, Delores of Kiron and Kenneth and his wife, Arlene of Charter Oak; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ervin and his wife, Helma Neddermeyer and Adolph and his wife, Gladys Neddermeyer all of Charter Oak; two aunts, Elsie Kunze of Dunlap and Eleanora Neddermeyer of Charter Oak, cousins and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 29, 1986, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with the Rev. James Ristvedt officiating. Burial was in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens, The Garden of Gethsemane. Mrs. Fred Rabe was organist with Mr. Henry Henningsen, soloist, singing "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer". The congregation sang "Just As I Am". Honorary pallbearers were Dean Bohlmann, Mick Sexton, Spencer Claussen, Steve Ipsen and Larry Schnider. Acting pallbearers were Scott Nemitz, Barry Nemitz, Randy Nemitz, Ryan Nemitz, Ross Nemitz and Rollin Nemitz.

Edwin A. Nehls (1917 - 1982)
Edwin Nehls, 65, 2240 Hasley Drive, died Nov. 26, 1982 at the Baptist Medical Center. He was born July 11, 1917 in Denison, Iowa; served his country in the United States Navy in W.W.II.He was united in marriage to Evelyn Perkins on Dec. 28, 1948. They have lived in Oklahoma City all their wedded life.
He was a charter member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa.
He was a heavy equipment insurance adjuster and president of Truck and Equipment Claim Service. He was a member of Truck and Heavy Equipment Claims Council and Oklahoma City Claimsmen Association.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn and their daughter Marilyn who is a senior medical student at OU and a sister Edna Else of Schleswig.
Services were Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. at Hahn Cook Street and Draper with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nehls of Denison.

Elmer H. Namanny (1922 - 1980)
Elmer H. Namanny was born on February 26, 1922, at Charter Oak, Iowa, the son of John and Anna Plagge Namanny. He died on Saturday, March 1, 1980, at the Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 58.Elmer was raised on a family farm near Charter Oak. He received his formal education in the rural schools near his home. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
On December 28, 1941, Elmer was united in marriage to Marcella Keller at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. They made their home on a farm near Ricketts until 1946 when they moved to a farm east of Schleswig. Later in 1955 Elmer moved to Schleswig where he worked in the trucking field. In 1975 he became the Chief of Police in Schleswig. Elmer retired early in 1979 due to ill health. He has continued to make Schleswig his home.
In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by one son Richard and one sister Leona.
Survivors include his wife Marcella of Schleswig, one son Gerald and his wife of Cherokee and two grandsons, Adam and Andrew. Also by a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 4, 1980, at 10:30 a.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Henderson officiated at the services. Pallbearers included Don Stehr, Lenhardt Teut, Elmer Kuhlman, Ronald Quandt, Ralph Reincke and Paul Bergman.

Herman J. Neubauer (1905 - 1982)
Herman J. Neubauer was born on Aug. 20, 1905 in Grant Township, Ida County, Iowa, the son of Frederick and Augusta Eggebrecht Neubauer. He died May 20, 1982 at Horn Memorial Hospital, Ida Grove, at the age of 76.Herman was baptized as an infant on Sept. 22, 1905 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grant Township. He was later confirmed in the Lutheran Faith on April 9, 1922 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cushing. He spent his early years on a family farm. Herman received his formal education in the rural schools near his home.
On March 16, 1927, Herman was united in marriage to Louise Else in Grant Township. Together they farmed in Ida and Crawford Counties. In 1967, they retired and moved to Schleswig. Herman was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. During his life he was a member of Trinity Lutheran at Grant Township, and the Lutheran Churches in Cushing and Battle Creek.
In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by one grandson, Ryan Baker, two brothers, Albert and Herbert and three sisters, Margaret, Frieda and Ella.
Survivors include, his wife Louise of Schleswig, one son Leon and his wife Millie of Ida Grove, one daughter, Jeanine and her husband Melvin Baker of Kiron, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Mary, Mrs. Arnold Burrow of Battle Creek, Mrs. Minnie Korner of Schleswig, Josie, Mrs. Herbert Steir and Mrs. Alma Mohrhauser, both of Battle Creek.
Funeral services were held on May 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Grant Township. The Rev. Paul Wiegert officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Donald Korner, Dan Kuhlmann, Tim Bubke, Trent Baker, Tony Baker and Kevin Neubauer. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Schleswig.

Minnie (Plagge) Namanny (1895 - 1978)
Minnie Namanny was born March 23, 1895 near Charter Oak, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Augusta Plagge. She died May 20, 1978 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 83.Minnie was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church, Charter Oak. She attended rural schools as well as the Lutheran School in Charter Oak.
On Feb. 19, 1915 she was united in marriage to William Namanny at St. John's Lutheran Church. Together they made their home on a farm in Charter Oak Township for 20 years before purchasing a farm near Schleswig. They farmed north of Schleswig until their retirement in 1947 when they moved to Schleswig.
Minnie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a member of its Ladies Aid.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, a daughter Erma in 1935 and a son Martin in 1947. Also by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include, her husband William of Schleswig, three sons, William F. of Emmettsberg, Ray of Ida Grove, and Alvin of Kamrar, and one daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Donald Korner of Schleswig. Also by 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Hilda Vogt of Charter Oak.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., May 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schleswig. Burial was in the Grant Township Cemetery. The Rev. Theodore Letzring officiated at the services. Pallbearers included, Ted Schlimgen, Harry Fredericks, Roy Jensen, Eldred Gronau, Charles Evers and Robert Braase. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Schleswig.

Vernon Nicholas Nihsen (1919 - 1982)
Vernon Nicholas Nihsen was born on July 22, 1919 near Charter Oak, the son of Hans and Katherine Miller Nihsen. He died Oct. 18, 1982 at his home in Oakland.Vernon moved with his family at an early age to Kiron. He received his formal education in the rural schools near his home.
On Dec. 12, 1943, he was united in marriage to Bernice Henningsen at Denison. Together they farmed in Crawford County near Schleswig.
In 1969, Vernon moved to Bellevue, Neb. For the past two years he has made his home in Oakland.
In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet.
Survivors include, two sons, Vernis of Denison, and Lonnie of Des Moines, and one daughter, Laurie, Mrs. Dean Muhlbauer of Denison. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Michael and Tracie, one brother Gilbert Nihsen of Ricketts and one sister, Mabel, Mrs. Ray Kollbaum of Kiron.
Funeral services were held Oct. 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Denison. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery near Schleswig. The Rev. James Cobb officiated at the services. Mrs. Dorothy Norman serviced as organist with Henry Henningsen soloist. Pallbearers were Doug Kollbaum, LoWayne Nihsen, Harold Nihsen, Virgil Nihsen, Kenneth Nihsen and Edwin Nihsen. William Namanny (1899 - 1978)
William Namanny was born on January 5, 1899 near Schleswig, Iowa, the son of Henry and Tina Namanny. He died on Wednesday evening, March 29, 1978, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Denison, Iowa at the age of 79.William was raised on a farm near Schleswig and attended the rural schools of the area. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith.
On February 9, 1920, he was united in marriage to Lena Plagge at Charter Oak, Iowa. Together they made their first home on a farm west of Schleswig. Later they purchased the Namanny home place, where they continued to live and work for forty years. In 1965, they retired and moved to Schleswig. Lena passed away in 1967 and William continued to make his home in Schleswig later moving to Denison when he became a resident of Eventide.
In addition to his parents and his wife, William was preceded in death by one son Kenneth, two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and three brothers, John, Julius and Lawrence.
Survivors include children Leonard of Denison, Wilbert of Kiron, Marcella, Mrs. Melvin Petersen of Schleswig, Donna Mae, Mrs. Donavon Weed of Sioux City, William Jr. of Canton, Ohio, Shirley, Mrs. William Ahart of Denison and LaDene, Mrs. Rene Hickey of Dakota City, Nebraska. Also by 32 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one brother Vernon of California and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Vogt of Ricketts, Mrs. Hertha Creese of Charter Oak, Mrs. Lillian Schneider of Arizona and Mrs. Marie Pierce of California.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 1, 1978, at 1:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schleswig, Iowa. Burial was in Crawford Heights, Denison, Iowa. The Rev. Wilhelm Paul Friedrich Nemitz (1909 - 1980)
Wm. Nemitz, son of Wilhelm Nemitz and Matilda nee Schultz, was born March 15, 1909 near Ricketts, Iowa. He was brought into the family of God through the washing of Holy Baptism on April 6, 1909 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, rural Charter Oak, Iowa. Bill was confirmed in the same Christian faith on April 8, 1923 by Rev. C. Runge, also at St. Paul's.Bill grew up on the farm and was faithful member of the Lutheran Church all his life. God granted Bill two marriages in his life. He was married to Ellen Schultz on Feb. 5, 1934. Thirty-two years of marriage were granted this couple until God called Ellen from this life on October 22, 1966.
On October 2, 1968 Bill was blessed with his second wife Berdena Anna Boger nee Kollbaum. He also was blessed with an instant family of three sons and one daughter as well.
Bill farmed in Soldier Township and near Arthur. Following his marriage to Dena Boger they moved to Storm Lake in 1970, joining St. John's Lutheran Church in 1971.
Bill was always active in his faith life. He was a Sunday School teacher, a Church Elder, Stewardship and Evangelism chairman, a choir member for many years and at his death was serving on the Mission and Ministry Study Committee here at St. John's. His love for his Lord and Savior even led Bill to study briefly in the ministerial program of our church, but he decided he could serve the Lord better in other areas.
Bill was called from this life on November 10, 1980, reaching the age of 71 years, 7 months and 24 days. His mortal remains were buried at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Charter Oak on November 12, 1980.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Dena of Storm Lake, Norman Boger and family of Sioux Center, Edward Boger and family of Cherokee, Kenneth Boger and family of Ida Grove and Mrs. John (Vickie) Hember of Cherokee and family. Also his brother Walter of Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Ernest (Agnes) Nemitz of Denison; Mrs. Glenn (Esther) Wood of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Alvin Emma Hargenns of Ricketts, Mrs. John Meggers of Charter Oak, Louis Hargens and Denny Henkel of Ricketts and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, his wife Ellen, two brothers Ernest Nemitz and Alvin Hargens, and sister Dorothy Henkel.

Adela Catharine (Marquardt) Schroeder (1890 - 1968)
Mrs. Fred J. Schroeder died on June 16 at the Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health and hospitalized at various times, coming to the local hospital for the last time on May 18.Adela Catharine Marquardt, daughter of Henry and Minnie (Gehring) Marquardt, was born Nov. 1890 in Otter Creek Township, Crawford County. In early infancy she was baptized and later confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church at Denison. On Nov. 20, 1912 she was married to Fred J. Schroeder and after their marriage they farmed in Goodrich and Hayes Townships. They came to live in Denison in 1948.
Surviving her death are one grandson, Wayne Schroeder of Ida Grove and one sister, Mrs. Anna Hollander of Schleswig and her husband, Fred.
Preceding her in death were a son, Freddie, one granddaughter, four brothers and one sister.
Her funeral service was held on June 19 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison with the Rev. Carl W. Schmidt officiating. Mrs. Fred Rabe served as organist with hymns being sung by the Lutheran Ladies Choir. Interment was made in the Morgan Township with the following serving as pallbearers: Peter T. Jepsen, Edward Marquardt, Henry Schroeder, Edgar Marquardt, Alvin Schroeder and Henry Thomsen.

Mrs. Carl Christiansen, 74, of Battle Creek, died Friday, February 16, 1979, at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 1979, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. The Rev. Donald Winterrowd officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Christiansen, the former Adela Louise Jepsen, was born November 22, 1904, in Crawford County. She was married April 22, 1925, in Denison. They farmed south of Ida Grove and had lived in Battle Creek for the last 32 years.
Survivors include the widower; two sons, Morrelle and Donald, both of Ida Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Nallor of Battle Creek; three brothers, Martin of Bell, California, Julius of Correctionville and Raymond of Schleswig; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Adela Marie (Schultz) Dorfler (1904 - 1972)
Funeral services for Mrs. Adela Marie Dorfler were held Feb. 16, 1972 at St. Luke's Lutheran church in Ricketts at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. John E. Schauer officiating. Mrs. Loren Lee was organist, accompanying Henry Henningsen who sang It Is No Secret and The Lord's Prayer.Adela Marie Dorfler, daughter of Herman and Bertha Schultz, was born on Nov. 3, 1904 and died Feb. 16 after a long stay in the Denison hospital. On Nov. 4, 1904 she was baptized in the Christian faith and confirmed that faith on April 13, 1919.
She was united in marriage with Franklin Dorfler on Aug. 21, 1928 and to this union two daughters, Frances and Gloria were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Herman and a sister, Minnie.
Survivors include her husband, Franklin of Ricketts, her two daughters, Mrs. Vernon Rabe of Sioux City and Mrs. Beryl Garrett of Dunlap, three brothers, Leonard and Otto of Schleswig and Alfred of Charter Oak, two sisters Mrs. Clara Kuhlmann of Charter Oak and Mrs. Erma Wisneski of Sauk Rapids, Minn., five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Interment was in St. Paul's cemetery at Charter Oak, with John M. Dorfler, Steven Garrett, Paul Briggle, Donald Schultz, Milford Schultz and Paul Schwartz as pallbearers. Maxwell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Adeline (Wiese) Christiansen (1899 - 1976)
Adeline Wiese Christiansen of Denison, daughter of John B. and Anna Lorenzen Wiese, was born in Denison, May 16, 1899, and died March 31, 1976, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 15 days.Mrs. Christiansen was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received her education in the Denison and Manning schools. She attended Business College in Brookings, South Dakota. After finishing, she was employed in the Crawford County Treasurer's Office in Denison.
On February 20, 1924, she was united in marriage to Henry Christiansen of Charter Oak, by Reverend Frehse. Three sons and three daughters were born to this union. They made their home on farms in Crawford County until 1971 when they retired and moved to Denison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, and three brothers, Carl, Bernhardt and Elmer.
Survivors include her husband, Henry, her children, Phyllis (Mrs. Loyal Brotherson) of Denison, Shirley (Mrs. Edward Gehring) of Odebolt, Bonard of Schleswig, Dale of Glenwood, Beverly (Mrs. Russell Hammer) of Boone and Melroy of Des Moines, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, two brothers, Andrew of Flandreau, South Dakota and Robert of Wilmot, Minnesota, six sisters, Johanna (Mrs. Herbert Volkmann) of Deloit, Marie (Mrs. Emil Koenck) of Truman, Minnesota, Winnifred (Mrs. Henry Luschen) of Flandreau, South Dakota, Edythe (Mrs. Richard Garrison) of Washougal, Washington, Maxine (Mrs. Ervin Doyle) of Flandreau, South Dakota, and Alice (Mrs. Raymond Richeal) of Garrettson, South Dakota, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 2, 1976 at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison, Iowa, with Pastor Robbin Tisdale officiating. Mrs. Robbin Tisdale was the organist and accompanied Henry Henningsen as he sang "Abide With Me" and "I'm But a Stranger Here". Bearers were LaVerne Christiansen, Robert Christiansen, Robert Koenck, Palmer Volkmann, John Wiese and Robert Wiese Jr.
Interment was in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens.

Agnes Bernadine (Brogan) Christiansen (1899 - 1986)
Agnes Bernadine Christiansen was born on August 18, 1899 in Crawford County, the daughter of Thomas and Lou Erie Williams Brogan. She died Thursday morning, March 6, 1986 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-six years, six months, and eighteen days.Agnes spent her childhood years in Crawford County. She received her early formal education at St. Ann's School in Vail. She continued her education at the Denison Normal College. She later taught school in Crawford County for a number of years.
Agnes was united in marriage to Louie Christiansen on April 7, 1919 in Sioux City. They made their home on a farm in Crawford County where they lived these past years. Louie died March 27, 1980. Agnes continued to make her home in Denison, entering the Eventide Lutheran Home in October of 1985.
Agnes was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Deloit, and an active member of a number of area card clubs. She was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary.
In addition to her parents and husband, Agnes was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Joyce in 1930; two brothers, Matt and Frank, and her sister-in-law Marian.
Survivors include three sons, La Verne of Earling, Orville and Tom both of Denison and four daughters, Rita, Mrs. Andrew Wiebers, and Betty, Mrs. Don Eggers, both of Denison, Bonnie, Mrs. Wesley Stoelk of Westside, and Sylvia, Mrs. Robert Pearson of Des Moines. She is further survived by twenty-nine grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, March 8, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Interment was in the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Father Gerald Hartz was celebrant for the Mass and officiated at the graveside rites. Mrs. Pat Menegay served as organist for the services with Mrs. Judy Thams serving as pianist. Selections for the Mass were sung by the St. Rose of Lima Choir. Rosary services were held at the funeral home the evening before the Mass. An American Legion Auxiliary service concluded the committal services at the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers for the services were Larry Namanny, Bob Christiansen, Joe Christiansen, Jay Eggers, Scot Stoelk, and Jeff Lingle. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison.

Albert Gustav Schultz (1876 - 1966)
A.G. Schultz Schleswig Pioneer Dies at Age 89Funeral services for A G Schultz, pioneer Schleswig business man were held Monday morning at the Immanuel Lutheran church.
Mr Schultz held the honor of driving in the first nail in the town of Schleswig. While working with a carpenter gang, a load of lumber was brought to the site of the now Skelly station. A G jumped off the load of lumber and nailed two 2x4s together for the first nail driven in a new town.

Albert Gustav Schultz, son of Herman Schultz and Emma Thomas, was born April 15, 1876 in Hanover Township, Crawford County. He was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover Township. He attended parochial school there and was confirmed in that congregation. Later, he was married to Elizabeth Schelm. The Lord blessed them with three children, Walter, Clarence, and LeNore. After the death in 1909 of his first wife, he was married to Kathryn Grabau. They were blessed with two children, Leonhardt and Celeste. His second spouse died in 1960.
In 1909, he took over the Hardware and Plumbing Business in Schleswig. In 1959, he was honored with a gold hammer and other citations for his 50 years of business in this community. He was always very active in community affairs. He held membership in the Schleswig Business Men's Club and was a member of the Iowa Retail Hardware Association for 50 years.
He joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1912. Was active in the building of the original Church part of which included his construction of the intricate white altar still used at St. Luke's Ricketts. Three of his children attended the parochial school conducted by Immanuel, and his family boarded the teacher part time to help defray the costs of having a parochial school teacher. He held voting membership in this congregation for 54 years. Mr and Mrs Schultz were founders of the Aquila Priscilla Club. He was also one of the founders of the Men's Club. Among the offices that he held in the congregation was that of elder and because of his interest in the youth of our Church, was Sunday School superintendent for a number of years.
Because of frailties of age, Mr Schultz of his own volition entered Eventide of Denison 2 1/2 years ago. His health continued to deteriorate and he died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital on Friday morning, March 11th.
He is survived by his children: Walter of Omaha; Clarence of Orlando, Florida; LeNore of Sioux City; Leonhardt of Schleswig, Celeste of Omaha, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 brothers: Martin J. of Ann Arbor, Michigan; Ben of Decatur, Indiana; George of Denison; and Walter of Schleswig. He was preceded in death by two brothers that died in infancy and seven sisters.
He attained to 89 years, 10 months and 16 days.
Burial was made in the St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery at Hanover township. Pallbearers were: Reynold Johannsen, Charles Evers, Herbert Rickert, Byron Behrmann, Harry Wellendorf and Leonard Hollander. Honorary pallbearers were J A Rohwer, Louie Kastner, Herbert Peters, G P Hollander, Johannes Gosch and Wm. Wollenhaupt.

Albert A. Puck (1892 - 1981)
Albert A. Puck was born on Oct. 16, 1892, near Manning, the son of William Puck and Martha Jones Puck. He died July 29, 1981, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, at the age of 88.Albert was raised on a farm near Manning. He attended the rural schools near his home. He later entered the U.S. Army, serving during World War I. After his release from the military he returned to the Manning area where he was employed.
On Jan. 13, 1926, Albert was united in marriage to Rosea Schmidt at Manning. Together they farmed near Manning until 1958 when they retired and moved to Denison. Albert has since continued to make Denison his home where he was a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by one grandchild, five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Rosa of Denison; two sons, Donald of Omaha and Lewis of Denison; four daughters, Viola (Mrs. Leslie) Boger of Denison, Alice (Mrs. Joe) Stevens of Audubon, Delores Puck of Council Bluffs and Shirley Puck of Denison; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Edward and William, both of Manning and three sisters, Ella Puck, Maggie Puck and Minnie Claussen, all of Manning.
Funeral services were held Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Burial was in Crawford County Heights Memory Gardens with full military rites. The Rev. Jack Heck officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Larry Schmidt, Roger Schmidt, Harold Schmidt, Mike Malone, Gary Puck and Ben Puck. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison.

Former Resident, Albert Bosse Sr. Dies in CaliforniaFuneral services for Albert Ernest Bosse, Sr., age 77, were held Monday, March 29th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Pius V church at Buena Park California with the Rev. Father Fredrick Kass officiating.
Albert Bosse, Sr., son of Albert Bosse and Amalie nee Hoebel was born in Goslar, Germany on August 22, 1887. He, along with his mother, sister and brothers migrated to America in 1909.
He was married to Eleanor Johannes in Kenmare, North Dakota on January 15th, 1930. To this union were born three daughters and one son. Mr and Mrs Bosse made their home in Schleswig for 27 years and in 1957 they moved to Anaheim, California where he passed away at his home on March 26th after a 3 month illness.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, three daughters, Agnes wife of Charles Kohles of Anaheim, California, Irene, wife of Marvin Roecker of Schleswig, Barbara, wife of Melvin Schmidt of Moville, 1 son, Albert and wife, Connie of Westminster, California, 12 grandchildren, four brothers, Eric of Missouri, Richard of Ohio, Bert of Illinois and George of Germany, one sister Elizabeth Boquist of Seal Beach, California and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
Daly and Bartel Mortuary, Anaheim was in charge of arrangements. Rosary was recited Sunday evening. Interment was in the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach. Pallbearers were William Kelm, Floyd Hudson, Elmer Neppl, John Buckley and Melvin Kohles.

Funeral Services Held Monday for Albert GetzmierFuneral services were held for Albert Getzmier on Monday, October 30, at the United Church of Christ with Rev. R. J. Ratzlaff officiating. Mrs. John Evers, organist accompanied Mrs. Ernie Grell and Mrs. Don Meyer who sang hymns.
Albert Getzmier, son of Henry and Minnie nee Kasky Getzmier was born on August 24, 1898 at Schaller. He was married to Amanda Engelking Peters on August 17, 1950 in Minnesota.
He was a resident of this community for almost two years. Prior to coming to Schleswig he was an apartment manager in Sioux City. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Amanda, one step-daughter, LoaLane Daly of Texas, six step-sons, Vertus, Palmer, Logan and Dick Peters of Schleswig. Gene Peters of Omaha and Julius Peters Jr. of South Dakota.
He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one brother, Lloyd of Schaller; three sisters, Mildred Hustad of Galva, Arvira Otto from Aurelia and Ivy Bamsey of Schaller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Art.
He died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital on Friday, October 25, due to a lingering illness. He attained the age of 69 years, 2 months and 1 day.
Pallbearers were, Gary Peters, Allan Bamsey, Ronald Peters, Gary Getzmier, Eldridge Drury and Alvern Hustedt. Interment was made in the Morgan Cemetery.

Albert Hans Henry Teut (1898 - 1979)
Albert Teut Dies in DenisonAlbert Hans Henry Teut was born on January 12, 1898 at Soldier Township, the son of Peter and Sophia Boysen Teut. He died on Thursday afternoon, May 17, 1979, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa, at the age of 81.
Albert was raised in Soldier Township until the age of 10 when his family moved to Denison, Iowa. It was in Denison where Albert attended the Denison grade school and high school. He also attended the Denison business college. Albert was baptized in Soldier Township and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
On October 29, 1919, Albert was united in marriage to Louisa Reinking at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. They made their home on a farm west of Schleswig. In 1940 Albert moved to Schleswig where he was employed by Tenhulzen Feed, while continuing to feed cattle near Schleswig.
Albert was a life-long member of the Lutheran church. He served on the Schleswig School Board for eight years and the town council for twenty years.
In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine in 1933, three brothers and seven sisters.
Survivors include his wife Louisa of Schleswig, one daughter Joan, Mrs. Gordon Nahnsen of Schleswig, two grandchildren, Neal and Lori and one sister, Mrs. Estelle Hermecke of Holstein. Also by a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 21, 1979, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schleswig, Iowa. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery. The Rev. Theodore Letzring officiated at the services. Pallbearers included Paul Kuhlmann Jr., Harold Eggen, Lenhardt Teut, Melvin Teut, Donald Teut and Donald Clausen.

Aaron John Bahnsen (1976 - 2007)
Aaron John Bahnsen of Omaha, Nebraska passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007 at his residence at the age of 30.Aaron was born in Denison, Iowa on May 18, 1976, the son of Marvel and Gaylen Bahnsen. He was baptized on July 11, 1976 and confirmed on March 24, 1991 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa.
Aaron attended Denison High School and later graduated from Morningside College in 1999. After graduating from college, Aaron worked for a short time at the Woodbury County Treasurer's office. Aaron later moved to Omaha where he was employed as a director for AT&T Account Services at West Corporation.
Aaron married Angela Regnerus on December 7, 2002 in Sioux Center, Iowa. Jack Aaron Bahnsen, the son of Aaron and Angela, was born on November 22, 2005. Despite his illness, Aaron and Angela lived life. Aaron's strength and courage never wavered. Many times he provided the strength for his family and those who knew him.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Angela; his son, Jack; his parents, Marvel and Gaylen Bahnsen of Schleswig, Iowa; his sister Krista McCullough and brother-in-law Cody McCullough of Sioux City, Iowa; his brother Nick Bahnsen and sister-in-law Erin Bahnsen of Denison, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles and other extended family members.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Chris Bertnett officiated the services and grave side rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Organist Wendy Bumann provided accompaniment for the congregational hymns "Blessed Assurance," "Be Still, My Soul," "On Eagle's Wings," and "Because He Lives." Those serving as pallbearers were Darrell Gierstorf, Matt Powers, Jim Stein, Jason Schellenberger, Harv Sandbulte, and Alan Weltz. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Women's Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig was in charge of the arrangements.

Adele A. (Gehring) DeConnick (1913 - 1995)
Adele A. DeConnick was born October 20, 1913 the daughter of William and Hertha Schade Gehring. She died on Thursday, July 20, 1995 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-one years.She was born on the family farm, south of Charter Oak, Iowa and received her education at a rural school near her home.
On February 11, 1948, Adele was united in marriage to Joseph DeConnick at a Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple settled in Early, Iowa, where they lived for three years before moving to a farm south of Denison and retiring to Denison in 1972.
Adele was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and the Farm Bureau. She was a very loving wife and caring mother and grandmother who was a very gracious and hard working lady. She enjoyed socializing in a game of cards, bowling, dancing and polka music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William L. and Victor Gehring, two sisters, Arlene Sovinski and Lucille Gehring.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph of Denison; one daughter, Beverly Stockdale and her husband, Robert of Riverton, Wyoming; four grandchildren, Becky Ann Clark and her husband, Jahn; Gregg West all of Loveland, Colorado; Marty West and his wife, Pamela of Springfield, Missouri, Dirk West of Omaha; eight great-grandchildren, Shawn West of Omaha; Cheryl West, Marty Jo West, both of Avoca; Nicole West, Elisha West, Tyler West all of Omaha; Joseph West of Springfield, Missouri, Jahn Mark Clark of Loveland, Colorado; one brother, Louis Gehring and his wife, Darlene of Denison and three sisters-in-law, Leona Gehring of Denison; Anna Marie Ecklund of Gretna, Nebraska and Amelia Welendorf of Manning, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 24, 1995 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa with Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. Philip E. Bloch officiating the service and grave side rites held at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Henry Henningsen singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me" and congregational hymn "I Know That My Redeemer Lives". Honorary pallbearers were: Phyllis Hagge, Alice Christiansen, Marcia Bretey and Marilyn Muhlbauer. Pallbearers were: Norman Friedericksen, William B. Adelia Sophia Marie (Schroeder) Lutz (1906 - 1994)
Adelia Sophia Marie Lutz, was born on March 25, 1906 in Goodrich Township of Crawford County, the daughter of Detlef and Anna (Thomsen) Schroeder. She received her education in country schools near her home.On January 5, 1927 Adelia was united with Herman "Harry" Lutz in Ida Grove. The couple farmed in Hayes Township of Ida Grove for 13 years until moving to a farm in Blaine Township of Ida County in 1945 where they farmed until 1963 when they retired and moved to Ida Grove.
Adelia was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was in the Esther Circle No. 4, and a member of various clubs in Ida Grove.
Adelia died Thursday, November 10, 1994 at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. At the time of her death Adelia had attained the age of 88 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1976, an infant son, Raymond Harry Lutz, one sister, Edna Krayenhagen, and four brothers, Carl, Henry, Paul and Walter Schroeder.
Survivors include three sisters, Hilda Miller and Hattie Jensen both of Pueblo, CO., two sisters-in-law: Louise Schroeder and Olga Schroeder both of Battle Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 14, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. Reverend Dennis Schultz, and Reverend Andrew Currao will be in charge of the service. Interment will be at the Morgan Township Cemetery in Schleswig.

Adeline (Petersen) Jaacks (1908 - 1996)
Adeline Jaacks was born September 7, 1908, the daughter of Amos and Bertha Zage Petersen. She died on Tuesday, March 12, 1996 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-seven.Adeline was born on a farm near Ute, Iowa where she lived with her parents. Later as a young girl, Adeline received her elementary education at a rural school near her home in Goodrich Township. She earned a GED certificate in 1970.
On January 22, 1930, Adeline was united in marriage to Henry Jaacks at the Zion Parsonage in Denison by Rev. William Frese. The couple farmed northwest of Denison until 1939, when they moved to a farm south of Schleswig. After the death of Henry, she moved to Denison in the mid 1960's.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, their Ladies Aid, Christian Craft Club, Evening Guild and Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Crawford County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Eventide Auxiliary and several card clubs.
Adeline was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, whose gracious personality was reflected in her great laugh. She enjoyed china painting, playing the piano, plants and flowers and doing needle work and other crafts. She also loved to bake and cook, especially cinnamon rolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry on October 23, 1963, four brothers, Jurgen, John, Edward, Lorenz and one sister, Minnie.
Survivors include one son, Burdell Jaacks and his wife Virginia of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Janice Bloss and her husband, Jack of Berthoud, Colorado; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Davis and his wife, Amanda; Joel Davis and his wife, Cindy all of Boulder, Colorado; Jennifer Swanson and her husband, Gregory of Mansfield, Texas; David Jaacks, Heidi Herndon and her husband, Elliot all of Austin, Texas; one brother, Carl Petersen and his wife, Gladys of Schleswig; three sisters-in-law, Elnora Petersen of Schleswig; Jessie Jaacks and Sophie Schroeder, both of Denison; also several nieces and nephews.

Adolph Otto Wilhelm Maas (1910 - 1979)
Adolph Otto Wilhelm Maas was born on August 17, 1910 near Charter Oak, Iowa, the son of Wilhelm and Louise Jungenberg Maas. He died on Wednesday morning, May 16, 1979, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 68.Adolph was raised on a family farm. He received his formal education in the Ricketts Public Schools and later attended the Lutheran School in Charter Oak. Adolph served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his release from the Military, he returned to Crawford County, Iowa, where he did farming work.
On September 30, 1951, Adolph was united in marriage to Irma Bohlmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Soldier Township. Together they farmed until 1976 when Adolph retired due to health. They have since continued to make their home on the farm.
Adolph was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving in various areas including president of the congregation and as an elder. He was also a member of the L. L. L.
Adolph was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Irma, one son Leon of Charter Oak, one daughter Lorna at home, and three grandchildren. Also by one brother, George Maas of Roseville, California and one sister, Mrs. Elnore Jones of Sioux City, Iowa, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 19, 1979, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. E. E. Greene officiated at the services. Pallbearers included Marcus Wodtke, Herbert Bohlmann, Gerhardt Meyer, Henry Baak, Herbert Meyer and Victor Zobel.

Agnes Lucille (Fineran) Dalton (1911 - 2005)
Agnes Lucille Fineran Dalton was born September 2, 1911, the daughter of James and Sarah Bauman Fineran. She died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa at the age of ninety-four.Agnes was born in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized into God's Grace and raised in the Catholic Faith knowing Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was raised on the family farm with thirteen brothers and sisters. After receiving her education from rural schools, she worked at her parents farm and locally in homes.
On October 17, 1933, Agnes was united in marriage to Bryan Thomas Dalton at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. They settled on the Dalton Family Farm northwest of Vail, Iowa and were blessed with the birth of two sons, Thomas James and Lawrence Bryan.
Agnes remained on the farm after the death of her husband in 1956. In 1959 she and Lonnie moved to Denison. In October of 2000 she moved to the Denison Care Center due to health reasons.
Agnes was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison and the St. Rose Lima Altar Society. She worked part-time in Denison at Gambles, Jo-Mart Motel, Park Motel and the Ho-Hum Motel. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed gathering with family and friends to visit and play cards.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bryan on June 26, 1956; eight brothers, Gregory, Clarence, Leo, Emmett, Benedict, William, Francis and Joseph; and four sisters, Sarah, Genevieve, Louise, and Sister Noreen.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Dalton and his wife, Evelyn of Denison; Lonnie Dalton of Denison; one grandson, Bryan Thomas Dalton and his wife, Cindy of Vail; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Ryan of Vail; one brother, Gerald Fineran and his wife, Norma of Denison and one sister-in-law, LaJune Fineran of Denison; many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Edward Murray officiated the service with interment at the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Vail, Iowa. Jean Cornelius provided the organ accompaniment for the St. Rose of Lima Choir. Lector was Sister Shirley Fineran; Eucharistic Ministers were Mary Ann Verbik and Judy Brodersen; Gift Bearers were Matthew Dalton and Ryan Dalton; and Servers were T.J. A Legion of Mary Rosary was held at 4:00 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., Friday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the Parish Center, served by the Altar Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Alberta Arbie (Gosch) Baak (1916 - 2003)
Alberta Arbie Baak was born on December 23, 1916, the daughter of Lewis and Iva Jones Gosch. She died on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenendoah, Iowa at the age of eighty-six.Alberta was born on a farm near Ute, Iowa and was baptized in Christ on November 27, 1927 at the St. Peter's Evangelical Church in Mapleton, Iowa and later confirmed there on March 29, 1931. She received her education in a rural school near her home.
On October 17, 1934, Alberta was united in marriage to Julius Baak at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township, Charter Oak, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Charter Oak and were blessed with the birth of three children. They farmed until 1967 when they moved to Denison, where Alberta worked at Lucky Lanes Bowling Alley for fifteen years. Julius passed away September 20, 1987 and in February of 1988, Alberta moved to Clarinda, Iowa to be near her family.
Alberta was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the RSVP and enjoyed bowling.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Vernon Gosch. Survivors include one daughter, Pearl Keesling and her husband, Wayne of Shenendoah; two sons, Paul and his wife, Diana of New Market; Dale and his wife, Susan of Holstein; grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Violetta Wooster and her husband, John of Mapleton; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Gosch of Mapleton; Verna Pithan of Charter Oak; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier Township in Charter Oak, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for Larry Boeck as he sang "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me". The congregational hymn was "Abide With Me". Those serving as pallbearers were Keith Keesling, Chris Strasser, David Baak, Mike Ohnesorge, Chuck Bonsall, Ryan Baak and Julie Dixon. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the Zion Lutheran Church, served by the Dorcas Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Alberta (Wiese) Clausen (1913 - 2001)
Alberta Clausen was born at Denison, Iowa, July 26, 1913, the daughter of Albert and Hattie Buffinton Wiese. When she was five years old the family moved to Brandon, South Dakota, residing there for five years until moving to Holstein, Iowa, where they lived until Alberta's last year of high school. Her last year of high school was spent in Denison where she completed the Normal Training. Upon completion of her schooling she took the teachers test and taught in the rural schools in Hayes Township, Nishnabotna Township and Kenwood schools for ten years.On August 20, 1942, Alberta was united in marriage with William H. Clausen at South Sioux City, Nebraska. Following William's discharge from the Army Air Force they made their home in Denison where they were blessed with four children, Dewain, Barbara, Dale and Annette.
In addition to being a busy housewife and mother, Alberta was employed part time for sixteen years at the Earl May Garden Center.
William died June 22, 1984 and Alberta continued to reside at her home in Denison.
She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Denison where in earlier years she was a member of the Ladies Circle, Choir and taught Sunday School.
In her spare time Alberta enjoyed sewing, embroidery, knitting and crocheting and sharing the things she made with her family. She was the family historian and spent countless hours researching information in that capacity. She also enjoyed traveling, going on many of the bank and mini bus tours. Alberta's greatest love was her family and spending time with them, cherishing their visits.
Alberta died Saturday evening, December 29, 2001 at Midlands Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time of her death she had attained the age of 88 years, 5 months and 3 days.
Including her parents and her husband, Alberta was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Wiese and one half brother, Clair Woodford.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include four children and their spouses, Dewain and Lula Mae Clausen of Indianola, Iowa, Barbara and Neil Skipper of Lugoff, South Carolina, Dale and Carol Clausen of Papillion, Nebraska and Annette and Richard Gilbreath of LaVista, Nebraska, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa with the Rev. Chrisa Ferguson officiating. Music for the service was provided by Gwen Ecklund singing "Beyond The Sunset", "Crossing The Bar" and "Amazing Grace". Nancy Miles served as organist. Casketbearers were Alberta's grandchildren, Karl Clausen, John Clausen, Lori Clausen, Dale W. Clausen, Kristen Skipper Geary, Sean Skipper, Melissa Gilbreath Reed and Jennifer Gilbreath. Interment was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Albert F. Lapel (1918 - 1991)
Albert F. Lapel, the son of Edward and Dora Rhode Lapel, was born Oct. 25, 1918 near Denison, Ia. He attended a rural school in Crawford County. He served in the Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart for injuries received in military action, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association.In 1946, Albert returned to the Denison area and on Oct. 4, 1947 he was united in marriage to Mary Miller of Dow City. This union was blessed with seven children. The couple made their home in Denison for most of their lives.
Albert died March 23, 1991 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha at the age of 72 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; two sons, Ronald and Larry; and two daughters, Lois and Sharon.
Survivors include three sons: George Louis of Chula Vista, Calif., John of Colorado, and Roger of Missouri; one daughter, Sandra Wilkins and her husband, David of Harlan; one grandson, Wayne Sherman of Bristol, Conn.; two brothers, Wilbur of Denison and Ray of Vail; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 29, at the Walter A. Huebner & Sons' Funeral Home in Denison, with Pastor Aaron Jones officiating the service. Music selections were "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." Walter A. Huebner Funeral Home of Denison was in charge of the arrangements.

Albert Johannes Jacobs (1899 - 1973)
Funeral services for Albert Jacobs were held Monday, November 5, 1973, at The United Church of Christ in Schleswig with Rev. R.J. Ratzlaff officiating. Becky Ratzlaff was the organist. Mrs. G.M. Johnson and Mrs. Ernie Grell sang "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Rock of Ages".Albert Johannes Jacobs was born to Fred Jacobs and his wife, Emilie nee Geisler, on March 12, 1899 in Soldier Township, Crawford County, Iowa.
He was baptized and confirmed as a youth in the United Church of Christ.
He married Veronika Hansen on December 16, 1925 at Battle Creek, Iowa. To this union were born four children, Gloria who passed away in 1934; Freddie of Schleswig; Wilma, Mrs. William Brockman of Schleswig; and Sharon, Mrs. Jerry Chapman of Hiawatha, Iowa. The Jacobs farmed west of Schleswig.
Mr. Jacobs became ill about three weeks ago and entered the Battle Creek Hospital, later transferring to St. Joseph's Hospital at Sioux City, where he passed away at 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 1973, having reached the age of 74 years, 7 months and 21 days.
He served as a member of the church council for four years in the late 1950's.
Besides his wife and children he is survived by three brothers, John of Norfolk, Nebraska, Willie and Gustave of Denison, three sisters, Mrs. Alvena Streck of Ida Grove, Mrs. Frieda Hinrichsen of Schleswig and Mrs. Hedwig (Richard) Dorale of Schleswig; four grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were: Edwin Rusch, Harry Streck, Fred Blume, Victor Schwarz, Donald J. Clausen and Martin Hageman. Interment was made in Morgan Cemetery.
