Bert Fitch says: "During 1940 the Doud Milling Company Put $61,139.06 Pockets of People in and Around Denison".

FARMERS RECEIVED $42,170.15 for wheat, corn and other grain. The fact that most of this grain was milled in Denison instead of being shipped to distant terminals means that local people had jobs and had wages to spend.

EMPLOYEES RECEIVED $14,216.09 in wages, providing a uniform, year-round pay roll.

LOCAL BUSINESS HOUSES AND UTILITIES RECEIVED a total of $4,002.82, divided as follows: Light and water (City of Denison), $400; Telephone, $250; Freight, $1,552.82; Miscellaneous services and supplies, $1,800. In addition, of course, virtually all of the $14,216.09 received by employees and much of the $42,170.15 paid to farmers was spent with Denison and Crawford County firms.

The above, naturally, represents only that large portion of the Doud Milling Company's expenditures that was spent locally. Items such as the carload or better of paper bags used annually to convey Fidelity Pancake Flour onto grocers' shelves in nine midwestern states, are expenses in addition to the above. During the year, several hundred thousand Fidelity Pancakes were consumed with our compliments at jubilees, store demonstrations, and church suppers.

The Doud Milling Company is proud to be a part of Denison, and to make its contribution, along with other industries to the economic life of the city. It will continue to do so during 1941.
