| STECKELBERG | Franz F | Franz F was the son of Henry Steckelberg and Sophia Castenia Specker. He was born October 10, 1860 at Elkader, Iowa and died February 10, 1947 reaching age of 86 years and 4 months. During his childhood his family moved to this vicinity where he grew to manhood. In early years he went to South Dakota settling in the neighborhood of Chamberlain. After spending a good many years in South Dakota, he returned to Iowa and located on a tract of ground one mile west of Manilla. Disposing of the land, he with his wife and daughter moved to town purchasing the home in which he resided up until a week before his death. The deceased was twice married, his 1st wife being Lizzie, nee Kahl. She proceeded him in death in 1903. Some three years later in 1906 he married Mrs Ida Holdsworth. She also preceeds him in death. The departed is mourned by the following Mrs AJ Anderson of Arcadia; Louis Steckelberg, Fort Dodge; Mrs Francis Heminger of Harlan; Lee Holdsworth of Coon Rapids, Myrtle (Mrs Arthur Hansen) Council Bluffs); Mrs Joe Schaub of Pukwana, South Dakota; Mrs Harold Touw of Branchmill, New Jersey; Mrs Bryan Cooper, Leonard and Ray Holdwsworth of Manilla; and Margie until recently with her father. 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Two brothers John and Fred Steckelberg of Manilla. |
