These township maps are from the 1879 history of Clinton County by L. P.
Allen. They are very large and take about 5 minutes to load (with a 28.8 k
modem). The map spanned two pages so there is some distortion in the
middle. Also, my scanner will only scan a 4x8 inch area. That is why
it is in two halves. There is no legend, so I don't know what the bushy
looking things are. I would assume low-marshy or heavily forested
areas. There are also some little things that look like houses?
Maybe they are, or maybe they represent something like a school, post-office or
something else.

The Townships by themselves:
I kind of made each township square with the 36 sections. (I believe each section is supposed to be 1 square mile or 640 acres). Lyons township was to the east of Elk River and Hampshire townships, so it is in two sections. The boundaries at the southern edge of the county were not very clear to me as to which township some of the sections should have been in and I know that DeWitt township is not square but....like I said, I went with the 36 sections, rather than the actual township boundaries, which are very hard to make out. Each image should take about a minute to load.
I have had some reports that these maps aren't entirely accurate. Some of the railroad lines, in particular, seem to be in the wrong places. Be sure to check other sources such as the original plat maps as you do your research.
