The 1910 census lists Fred Brockmiller 40 and wife Doratha 29 w children Emma 15, Freda 13 and Minnie 10 along with Fred's father Henry 70 and mother Doratha 65. I don't think Fred's mother's name was actually Doratha. Fred and his wife are listed as born in Iowa, parents born in Germany, but its hard to read exactly. Children listed as born in Iowa, Henry and wife born in Germany, parents born in Germany. Occupation is Farmer. (Emma should have 7, Freida 4 and Minnie 1. If mother was 29 she couldn't have children those ages? They don't match up with the birth dates I have?)

Next door in the 1910 census is Henry Bartels 31, wife Minnie 36 or 26 and son Henry 8. All born in Iowa with parents of Henry and Minnie born in Germany.

The 1920 census lists Fred Brockmiller and children Emma, Frieda, Minnie, Marie and Ella. He is listed as married, not widowed. It was written Feb. 6, 1920 and was to be correct info as of Jan. 1, 1920 so either his wife is elsewhere or died after Jan. 1.  Fred is listed as born in Germany, immigrated 1876 and naturalized 1881 or 1884, can't read it well. His occupation is listed as a Farmer. All the children's births are listed as Iowa with both parents being born in Germany.

Next door in the same census is Henry Bartels age 41, widowed, and son Henry Bartels Jr. age 15.  Sr was born in Germany, came to the us in 1903 and was naturalized in 1903. Son is also listed as born in Germany. It would make sense that this is Dora's father and brother.

The 1930 census from DeWitt Township, Springbrook Rd lists Fred, age 68, speaks German and English, a farmer who arrived in the US in 1877.  Marie, 17, and Ella, 15, are still living at home. Ella goes to school and Marie is listed as a Farm Laborer.

Next door lives the Jacobson family.  (See Martin Jacobson for more.)

There is a will for Fritz Brockmiller Book 11, page 234, recorded 22 Nov 1938

William Brockmiller, DeWitt Twp, daughters Lena Grohman, Margaret Sitan, son Carl Brockmiller, wife Sophia.  Witnesses Anna P Gannon, Aylett L Pascal and Fritz Brockmiller.
I'm assuming, since Fritz was witness to William's will, there is a connection between the two men.

There is a notice of a marriage license in the Clinton Weekly Age 06 Mar 1902 for Fred Brockmiller and Augusta Burtols. They appeared in the census in 1910 in DeWitt Twp., Clinton Co. IA.
