1. WILLIAM SAMUEL1 ANDREWS was born 25 Jun 1819 in Paris, France, and died 26 Jan 1899 in Camanche, Clinton Co., Iowa. He married SARAH COOK 22 Feb 1848 in Chicago, Illinois.
Obituary for SAMUEL ANDREWS:
"W. E. [sic] Andrews, an old soldier, approaching eighty years of age, died at Camanche Thursday. The funeral occuredr [sic] in the Baptist church at Camanche, Sunday at 2. He was a former member of N. B. Baker post, G. A. R., which was requested to bury him. All who have not private conveyances are to notify the adjutant as soon as possible, so they may be procurred." This should have read "W. S. Andrews", which it does in a later notice, which says, "The funeral of the late W. S. Andrews occurred at 2 p.m. Sunday at Camanche. N. B. Baker post No. 88, G.A.R. had the funeral in charge."

2. WILLIAM FRANCIS2 ANDREWS (WILLIAM SAMUEL1) was born 28 Mar 1849 in Chicago, Illinois, and died 26 Nov 1924 in Camanche, Clinton Co., Iowa. He married MARY MISSOURI REED 26 Nov 1867 in DeWitt, Iowa, daughter of LEE REED and ELIZA JERLS.

"Mrs. Mary Cope Dies in Camanche. Camanche -- Mrs. Mary M. Cope, 86, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mae McKenrick, at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, after a lingering illness. Funeral arrangements have not been made. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery.
The deceased was born Aug. 11, 1850, at Ellen Grove, the daughter of Lee and Eliza Reed. Three daughters, Mrs. Lillian Daniels, of Smithland, Mrs. Lou Nissly of Clinton, and Mrs. Mae McKenrick, three sons, Ivan, Elmer and Clarence Andrews all of Camanche, on sister, Mrs. Alice Wheaton of New Hampshire, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive.
Her husband and three daughters have preceded her in death."

"Mrs. Louis M. Nissley, 87, formerly of Clinton, now of Los Gatos, Calif., died there Sunday.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Snyder-Schmitz Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank G. Patterson of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Dan Andrews, Orville Andrews, Stan Leeper, Kenneth Hayes, Herbert Bartels and Charles Roe.
Mrs. Nissley was born Nov. 27, 1884, in Camanche, the daughter of William and Mary Reed Andrews. She married Clarence E. Nissley, in 1900, in Clinton. He died in 1941, and she moved to California in 1961 to live with her daughter. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and Clinton Rebekahs Lodge No. 13.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Grace Roe of Campbell, Calif., three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her husband; two sons, Clyde and Walter Nissley and one grandson."

Story/Obituary: From the Clinton Herald 16 Mar 1954 for JOSEPH ANDREWS:
"Find Man Dead at Fire Scene: Ivan Andrews lifelong Clinton area resident, was found dead today near his burned cabin on Beaver Island, where he lived alone.
Sheriff Marvin Bruhn and County Coroner Ross C. King, who started an investigation at 10:30 a.m., had not returned from the scene by press time today.
Police were notified by telephone of the tragedy at 9:45 a.m., but since the scene was outside the city's section of the island, the case was turned over to the sheriff's office. Officials said the living quarters, located in a lonely spot, may have burned down "some time ago."
Ivan Andrews was born May 4, 1878, in Camanche. Formerly employed in Clinton saw mills and as operator of a grocery store on Liberty avenue, he has farmed on Beaver Island in recent years.
He was married April 11, 1903, to Josie Slagg, who died Jan 28, 1909. Surviving are two sons, Orville, Oak Lawn, Ill., and Clair, Crystal Lake, Ill.
Funeral arrangements are being made at Dalton funeral home." JoAn notes that Ivan was buried at Rosehill in Camanche.

" Andrews of Camanche Dies -- Camanche, Sept. 29 -- (Special) -- Clarence C. Andrews, 58, died at 8:45 o'clock this morning in his home here.
Funeral plans are not complete.
He was born Aug. 16, 1880 in DeWitt, the son of Frank and Mary Andrews. On Dec. 14, 1905 he married Miss Meta Goettsch.
Surviving are his widow; three daughers, Mrs. Earl Vanderbilt of Rock Island, Mrs. Merle Fowler of Iowa City and Mrs. Alvin Hansen of Charleston, S.D.; one son, Raymond; four grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan of Clinton and Elmer of Camanche; two sisters, Mrs. May McKenrich of Camanche and Mrs. Clarence Nissley of Clinton."

"Funeral services for Mrs. Meta Andrews, 72, who died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl H. Vanderbuilt, at Rock Island, Ill., were held at 1 p.m. today in the First Baptist church, Camanche. Rev. LeRoy Carter, pastor, officiated. Mrs. Nicholas Petersen was the organist. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers were Carl Ryner, Jesse Bromley, A. C. Dahr, LeRoy Gifford, Ed Sinkey and Fred Hugunin.
The Snell funeral home was in charge of arrangements."

"Orville E. Andrews, 79, formerly of Camanche, died Saturday in a hospital in Palos Heights, Ill.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche. The Lawn Funeral Home, Burbank, had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Andrews was born Oct. 31, 1904, in Camanche to Ivan and Johanna Flack Andrews. He married Esther Blumer June 25, 1925, in Clinton. The couple moved to Chicago. He was employed as a millwright. He was a Mason and a past master of Masonic Lodge in Oak Lawn, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joan Hoffman of Countryside, Ill., five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Dan Andrews of McHenry, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a son."

"Camanche -- Burial rites for James Andrews, 21, of Oak Lawn, Ill., grandson of Ivan Andrews of Camanche, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rosehill cemetery here. Young Andrews died Monday night in his home, following a prolonged illness.
Mr. Andrews, born in Chicago, leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Andrews of Oak Lawn, a sister, Joan, at home, and the grandfather and other relatives in Camanche."
