Know ye, That Bertrell Gotham a Private of Captain A.L. Ames Company, (L), Sixth Regiment of Iowa Cavalry VOLUNTEERS, who was enrolled the (12th) twelfth day of December one thousand eight hundred and (62) Sixty Two to serve (3) Three years, or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States, this Seventeenth day of October 1865, at Sioux City, Iowa

by reason of Orders, Secretary of War
(No objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist.)

Said Bertrell Gotham was born in [blank] in the State of New York, is (18) Eighteen years of age, 5 feet 6 1/2 inches high, Light complexion, Hazel eyes, Brown hair and by occupation when enrolled a Farmer.

Given at Sioux City, Iowa, this Seventeenth day of October 1865.
