Unassigned Recruits

A number of recruits who were enlisted for the regiment never joined, were not assigned to particular companies, and so did not appaer on any company or regimental roll. Some died in hospital at rendezvous in Iowa, and some on the way to the camp of the regiment. Others may have been put on detached service, and so appear only on reports made out of the regiment; also, some were "bounty-jumpers" or habitual "deserters". The whole record in each case in printed here. The place next after the name is the residence in Iowa given on enlistment.
