Garnavillo Horse Thief Detective Association
The horse thieves must look sharp ! At a regular meeting of the Garnavillo Horse Thief Detective Association, held June 10th, 1878, the following officers were elected:
President - J. H. Bierbaum
Vice President - Wm. Schoulte
Secretary - Helmuth Brandt
Treasurer - Henry Schumacher
Capt. - J. C. Stickfort
Lieut. - E. Wallerer
Riders - H. Hill, G. B. Koster, Jas. Uriell, H. Schafer, Wm. Schoulte, D. Benjegerder, Alvin Tarrey, Louis Mueller, Wm. Moellering, H. Rater

The Garnavillo Horse Thief Detective Association held its meeting at the Turner hall on Monday, May 22nd, and elected the following officers for the ensuing year:
President - Henry Schlacke
Vice president - Ben Johnson
Secretary - Helmuth Brandt
Treasurer - Henry Dettmer
Captain - C.G. Stickfort
Lieutenant - C.W. Schumacher
Riders, as follows: Julius Pufahl, H.W. Fritz, E.W. Kregel, Wm. Beck, W.A. Tangemann, J.F. Schumacher, F. Wilker, Hy. Schumacher, Hy. Mueller and Chas. Schulte.
A very enthusiastic meeting was held, over fifty members were present.

Hook & Ladder Company Organized
The citizens of Garnavillo have organized a Hook & Ladder Company for protection against the fire fiend. The following officers were elected:
Foreman - Eugene Barnes
1st Assistant - J. W. Hudson
2nd Assistant - H. Limbech
Sec. - J. H. Tangeman
Treas. - L. C. Meyer
They intend to erect a building 12 X 30 on the east side of the public square for storing the truck, ladders, etc. A ball will be given in Turner Hall on the evening of Dec. 26th, the proceeds to be devoted to the benefit of the above company.

At a regular communication of Garnavillo lodge No. 90, A.F. & A.M., the following officers were elected:

The officers will be installed at public installation Tuesday, Dec. 31.
At a regular meeting of Garnavillo lodge No. 29, I.O.O.F., held at it's hall on Saturday, the following officers were elected:

The Commercial Club held its annual election at the Oelke Café Monday evening and elected the following:
