BEULAH
6 miles west of North McGregor, and is the point of junction with the Iowa Eastern Railroad (narrow guage). Telegraph, North Western. Express, Western Union. Leon Benson, Postmaster.


GIARD
Is a station on the Iowa and Minnesota Division of the C, M & St Paul Railway, 6 miles from North McGregor.


LUANA
Population 250, lies 19 miles west of North McGregor, on the line of the Iowa and Minnesota Division of the C, M & St P Ry. It is a village of Clayton County. Distance from Elkader, the seat of justice, 15 miles north. Telegraph-Northwestern. Express United States. Wm Mott, Postmaster.

MCGREGOR
One of the most bustling and active business cities on the C, M & S P Ry west of Milwaukee, is situated in the northeast corner of Clayton County, township of Mendon, 20 miles from Elkader the county seat. Distances from Milwaukee 195 miles, from Beulah the junction of the C, M & St P and Iowa Eastern Rys 6 miles, from Clayton on the C D & M Ry 10 miles. It lies on the west bank of the Mississippi, being connected with Prairie du Chien, Wis, by a railway pontoon bridge. Ferries ply to and from opposite sides of the river. A considerable manufacturing and jobbing trade is carried on here. The surrounding country is rolling, black loam, with clay and limestone subsoil. Principal productions, grain, wool, and live stock. Telegraph-North Western and Western Union, Express American and United States. Postmaster C F Bell. Principal hotels-Bigelow House and Evans House. There are two newspapers (weekly), and one bank, the First National. The manufactures consist of saw mills, machine shops, furniture factories, wagon and carriage shops, breweries, cracker factory, fanning mill and pump manufactories, mineral water manufactories, &c, &c. Messrs G Hawley & Co own an extensive carriage factory, manufacturing large numbers of fine carriages and buggies.

MONONA
Is a small village on the line of the Iowa and Minnesota Division of the C, M & St P Ry, 15 miles from North McGregor and 210 from Milwaukee.


NORTH MCGREGOR
Is the eastern terminus of the Iowa & Minnesota Division of the C, M & St P Ry. Trains via the Prairie du Chien Division, cross the Mississippi at this point. It is one mile north of the city of McGregor, and opposite Prairie du Chien, Wis.
