Charles Yearous
Highland Twp.

Charles Yearous was born in Baden, Germany, on Jan. 28, 1832. His parents were Frederick and Julia A. (Deischer) Yearous. His mother died April 1, 1832, leaving five children, and his father was again married, to Mary E. Cipherd, by whom he had eight children. When Charles was three years old his parents emigrated to the United States. They resided on a farm in Holmes County, Ohio, one year, then went to Cleveland, thence to Knox County.

On April 11, 1851, our subject was married to Catherine Peters, who was born in Ashland County, Ohio, and was a daughter of Christian and Susan (Moats) Peters.

Mr. Yearous farmed in Ohio until 1854, when he came to Clayton County, and settled on a farm in Highland Township. He now owns 355 acres of land, 260 under good cultivation.

Mr. and Mrs. Yearous have had ten children, nine living - Aaron, who married Lizzie Shipherd; Jacob, married Rebecca Doty; Jerome, married Laura Schrick; Martha J., now Mrs. Frank Kimpson; Christian A., Charles M., Frederick, John W. and Andrew.

Mr. Yearous has ever made Clayton County's intersts his own, and has been active in every enterprise that tended to her advancement and improvement.
