Nelson Roberts, one of the representative farmers of Cass Township, was born in the State of Massachusetts on Aug. 30, 1845, and was a son of Charles and Lydia Roberts. He emigrated to Clayton County in 1857, and worked on farms in this vicinity until 1864, when he enlisted in the army and served two years. Upon leaving the service he returned to Clayton County, and bought his present farm on section 36, Cass Township. He has been twice married. His first wife, Charlotte Jefferson, died leaving two children. He was again married in 1881, to Frances Draper. source: History of Clayton
