George Hummel
Sperry Twp.

George Hummel was born in Black Hawk County, Ia., June 30, 1856, and came to Sperry township in 1874. His father was born in Ohio, and came to Iowa twenty-five years ago, and died in Henry County. His widow married William Benedict in 1874. Of the children born of the first union - Eliza, now Mrs. John Dempster; Martin; Martha, now Mrs. Simeon Bruce; Mary E., now Mrs. Wm. Bird; Jacob A., George W. and Elijah B., are living. The subject of this sketch has been twice married, first in 1876 to Rosa Oltrich, and he was again married on Dec. 12, 1881, to Fanny Lickiss.He resides on the home farm with his parents, and is engaged in raising grain and stock. He is one of the representative farmers of Sperry township.
