John Dubbels, harness-maker, Guttenberg, is the son of Henry
Dubbels, who was born in Germany, and came to the United States when a young
man; he lived for a time in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was married to Rosa
Ribbe, a native of Germany. Henry Dubbels removed from Cincinnati to
Burlington, Iowa, and thence to Guttenberg, where he followed the business of
carpentering. He died in 1855. His wife now lives in Nebraska. John was born
in Guttenberg, in 1850. He learned his trade with his step-father, Fred
Schroeder. He established his business here in 1877. He married Anna Schulte.
They have four children— Alma, Ida, Rosa and Amelia. source: History of Clayton
