First Settlers In Liberty Twp.
Arthur and Hannah Kerr are believed to have been the first settlers in Liberty township. They settled on section three about three miles east of the town of Liberty in 1853. They came from DeWitt county, Ill.
Mrs. Raymond Nine, great granddaughter of these pioneers now lives on the old Kerr homestead which has been in the family continuously for 98 years.
