GEORGE W. MOWERY

George W. Mowery was born in Knox county, Ill., November 3, 1853, and died at his home in Ottumwa, Iowa, November 26, 1912, at the age of fifty-nine years and twenty-three days.

On March, 13, 1879, he was united in marriage to Ruth A. Briley and to this union were born five children, all of whom are living except one, Linnie B., who passed away January 5, 1892. The living children are Everett, Ernest and Guy all of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Ada Lewis of Murray. He also leaves his wife, an aged father and mother, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson Harold Lewis, to mourn his departure.

Mr. Mowery came to Osceola in 1882 and was a resident of this city for twenty-two years. Seven years ago he moved to a farm near Murray where he resided until last February when on account of ill health he was compelled to leave his farm and then moved to Ottumwa to be wiith his sons. He was a gentleman well respected and has many friends who sympathize with the bereaved family in their time of sorrow.

The body was brought to this city on No. 3 Thursday, November 28th, and funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at two o'clock in the afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. J. Carrick of Murray. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery.
