Clarke County and the Civil War

Newton Scott

 

Civil War veteran Newton Scott settled in Clarke County after the war. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Hullum Scott who were both born in Virginia and were married in 1831. They moved to Indiana about 1835 and to Monroe County, Iowa in 1856. In 1867 they moved their family to Murray. Hulum and his wife Mary A. are both buried in the Murray cemetery.
