CHARLOTTE (OTTESON) UGLAND

Charlotte Ugland, 92, of Montrose, CA, formerly of New Hampton, died Thursday, November 3, 2005 at the Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, CA. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, November 11, 2005 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with Reverend Kevin Frey officiating. Burial will be in the New Hampton Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton and an hour prior to services. Charlotte J. Ugland was born December 13, 1912, on a farm near Jerico, the daughter of James & Annetta (Natvig) Otteson. At age 2, Charlotte moved to New Hampton with her family and attended New Hampton Schools, graduating from New Hampton High School in 1930. After graduating from High School she worked in the Chickasaw County Recorders Office. In 1938, Charlotte was united in marriage to Maurice Ugland. Together the couple owned and operated Ugland’s Sweet Shop in New Hampton for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1973. In 1989, Charlotte moved to Montrose, California, where she was currently residing. Charlotte is survived by her son Larry Ugland and daughter-in-law Susan Ugland of La Crescenta, CA; granddaughter Kirsten (Ugland) Arebalos and her husband Jason Arebalos, 3 great grandchildren Joseph, Hannah and Sarah Arebalos all of Montrose, Colorado; a sister Thelma (Otteson) Morse of Cedar Falls, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents James & Annetta (Natvig) Otteson, husband Maurice Ugland, a brother Russell Otteson, and 2 sisters Bonnie (Otteson) Borlaug and Ruby (Otteson) Fennel.

Mrs. M. Ullom, 87
Passed Away Friday


Margaret Eleanor Felcher Ullom, 87, the daughter of John and Eliza Felcher, was born April 17, 1863 at Nashua and passed away Friday morning, Aug. 11, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 24 days.
Margaret, better known as Ella to her friends, spent her girlhood days in Nashua and attended the public school.
She was married Feb. 23, 1880, at Charles City to Marvin M. Ullom of Nashua. To this union six children were born, three of whom survive: Mrs. Beryl Kegley of Sunnyside, Wash., Mrs. Ina Hoppner of Sacramento, Calif., and John, of Nashua. Also one grandson, Forrest Hall, of Sacramento, Calif., whom she raised from birth. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Olive Hall and Mrs. Ruth Callahan, and one son, Charles.
Mrs. Ullom was a lifelong member of the Brethren church. She spent her entire life in Nashua with the exception of three years which were spent in Washington and South Dakota.
Funeral services were at the Chenoweth and Son funeral home Monday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Dean Farringer, pastor of the Brethren church at Fredericksburg in charge. Flower ladies were Mrs. Bartlett Peterson and Mrs. Angie Miller. Casket bearers were Jacob Wightman, Don and Max Ullom and Elmer, Eddie and Curtis Bigelow. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
