| RITES FOR MRS. ROBERT A. LEWIS at 2:30p.m. TODAY Succumbed on Monday Eve After Long Illness Survived by Two Daughters and Other Relatives The death of Mrs. Robert Allen Lewis, 68, occurred at her home on East Logan Street, of this city a 7:45 p.m. Monday, April 8, 1935. Her death was due to complications of chronic bronchitis of which she had been ill for about ten years. Her last illness began last Thursday evening and she was confined to her bed until death overtook her.
The pallbearers are as follows: Dr. P.E. Gardner, J.L. Crawford, Will Reborst, Sam Greenwald, Fred Bearman and A.J. Pierson. Elizabeth Arrabelle Eggleston, a daughter of Isaac and Laura Eggleston, was born July 12, 1866 in Washington township, Chickasaw County, Iowa. She attended the rural schools of Chickasaw County and on July 25, 1883, she was united in marriage with Robert Allen Lewis, in ceremony read at the home of her parents. The couple resided in New Hampton practically all of the time since marriage. Mr. Lewis passed away December 29, 1917. To this union two children were born, both of whom survive. They are Mrs. Roy Beeder of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Mrs. J.R. Venem of New Hampton. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Mrs. Alfred Reinhart of Cresco and Richard Venem of New Hampton, and one great grandchild, Jewell Ann Reinhart of Cresco, Mrs. David Moetsch, Ora Eggleston, Will Eggleston and Joseph Eggleston, all of New Hampton, sister and brothers of the deceased, are also left to mourn her death. Mrs. Lewis having been a lifelong resident of this county is very well known. Her life was one of kindness and solicitude for those near and dear to her. She was a member of the Baptist Ladies Aid Society until poor health prevented her from participating. We wish to extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved daughters, sister, brothers and other relatives and friends. Relatives from a distance expected here for the funeral are: Mrs. Carl Geiler, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fleming of Mason City, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Reinhard and daughter of Cresco, Mrs. and Mrs. Wesley Eggleston of St. Anagar. And now she sleeps,

| 10 June 2005 Segrid Enstad, 97, of Wausau passed away
Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Segrid was born in
Lawler, Iowa, on Feb. 10, 1908, to the late Mikkel and Torbjorg Njus. She
married Orton Enstad in New York City July 3, 1935. Segrid received her
Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Northern Iowa, earned her
master's degree from Columbia University and her post-master studies at
Northwestern University, University of Illinois-Champaign and the
University of Wisconsin. Segrid was the assistant director of the Fasoid
Clinic at UW-Madison, senior clinician at the Cleft Palate Clinic at
Rockford College and a speech and language pathologist employed by Wausau
Public Schools for 27 years until her retirement in 1971. Segrid was an
active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wausau, where she was
involved in teaching Sunday school. For many years Segrid and Ort helped
deliver meals with the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of the
Sons of Norway, Wisconsin Retired Educators Assoc., National Education
Assoc., A.A.R.P., United Nations-USA, Marathon County Historical Society
and Friends of Marathon County Library. Segrid was past president of the
Wisconsin Speech and Hearing Association and past president of the local
Sons of Norway. Segrid is survived by her husband, Orton; her sister,
Hannah Speers, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her daughter, Tanya Marie; two brothers, Iver and Harold Njus; and two sisters, Gertrude Nybakken and Bertha Sanderson. Contributed by Jim Johnson, May 2009 |

New Hampton Man New Hampton -- Funeral services for Charles E. Erland, 58, who was accidentally crushed to death by a huge rock Saturday at his farm home seven miles northwest of here, were Tuesday; born Mar. 3, 1887, at Newhall, son of Sig and Sarah Olson Erland; in 1912 he married Verda Mae Baker; ten years ago he purchased a farm near here and moved there; leaves widow, and a daughter, Mrs. Harry Gundacker; also four brothers and one sister.
